You must remember that Europe shares a lot of cultural things, even if we don't see it at a first glance. Almost all European countries were built on some kind of Christianity, which is probably the main reason. Outside Europe there were barely any Christian societes and there aren't any, barring Americas and Australia and other post-colonial lands. European have common roots, almost everybody else - not.
