What combination of arguments and ideas should one produce to refute such a deep reflection?
Most southerners weren't slave owners
Also that's the battle flag of the CSA and not the flag of the Confederate States

because muh niggers
A large proportion of them would spend their time in idleness and vice, and would live by stealing, robbing and plundering. Probably one fourth of the whole number would have to be maintained in our penitentiary, prisons, and poor houses. Our people, poor and rich, must be taxed to pay the expenses of imprisoning and punishing them for crime. - Georgia Governor Joe Brown on freeing the slaves

Ask them why they worship the hammer and sickle. Communists killed over 30x as many of their own people.
When the South was invaded, Southern States called upon their sons to defend their States, homes & family from invasion. These men went to do their duty, not as aggressors, nor in the spirit of conquest, but to protect their homeland from an unjust invasion.

Only the Yanks see it that way. The southern soldiers that fought under it would say it was about states rights. Most did not own slaves they were to poor. They said you came down here to fight, and we just want to go home grow corn. They would just want enough left over to make a little whiskey with.
The flag that benefited from slavery would be pic related, for their cotton mills and sewing plants.

You think the civil war had anything to do with slavery? You should learn some history. Slavery was maybe 5th on the list of concerns/priorities. Even the victors planned to deport all the blacks afterwards but then found they lacked the resources.

>reflects a failed governmental system
>that only thrived by the oppression of a minority of Americans
So what is it then? Did it fail or did it thrive?
WRONG
Niggers are not American.
