Hillary had connections with all the right people in the DNC and had an opponent who wasn't interested in seriously fighting her.

Bernie Sanders easily could have brought up some of the issues of corruption with her and taken her out of the race, but he viewed that as attacking his own team so he could never do any such thing.

Republicans on the other hand were perfectly fine attacking everyone on their own side. Even Cruz at the Republican national convention tried telling delegates to "vote their conscience", a meme that was pushed to get delegates to not vote for who primary voters wanted. However, because Trump and others fought against each other with all they had it led to voters becoming better informed about who they were voting for any everyone was vehemently in favor of Trump so no shenanigans were able to be pulled off.

The Democrats desire to treat criticizing their own party as off limits has helped to create a system for establishment politicians where none of them ever have to fear being ousted. And where Hillary will likely be able to get the nomination again if she so chooses.
