That's part of it, but the Boomers were also way more aggressive in the way they did business and dealt with their bosses. The "corporate raider" culture wasn't pioneered by Boomers, but they embraced it. Basically, if older people stood in their way, they'd go around them/undermine them/plot against them/ultimately destroy them. Anything from blackmail to sabotage was on the table. Boomers wanted power, and they grabbed it.

Gen-X simply doesn't have the same kind of "killer spirit." Certainly not the aggression and scheming that would be necessary to take down the Boomers, in an case.
