Music industry changed from rock stars into rap stars. The commercial music industry that puts out pop music for radio play found out over the years that hip hop was the new radical music of rebellious teenagers and used that to sell on the radio. Which popularized this shitty generic music that we all know and hate. Country music had the same thing going for it as well, which is why you saw that country music rap bullshit of the early 2000's like Kid Rocks cracker ass.
