The aim of most media companies isn't to inform the masses, it's not about publishing facts or opinions. It's about making money, there's a producer for every single media company, and their job is to make money for their company.

That means that every story, every fact, or opinion, isn't prioritized by importance, it's prioritized by clicks/views.

This skips over fake news, though that explains itself really, people like to read things that follow their agenda, so reading something that you agree with is more profitable to these people than reading something that's true.
