Socialism and Capitalism are not mutually exclusive. You can have some socialist policies and still be capitalist, like how a person can have some conservative views and still be liberal. Also, just because some socialist policies worked for America doesn't mean they would work for the rest of the world in an entirely different climate politically and economically.
