>be me
>24
>normal IQ

Lately, I've been thinking to myself that my ability to critically think and rationalize is declining. I seem to have a difficult time being able to separate myself from emotional thought and objective thought. I wonder if this is due to a chemical imbalance or perhaps it's just my age and IQ level starting to affect me mentally. It would be nice to figure out ways to improve my situation whether it's reading books or doing some sort of exercise to jolt my mind.

I'm beginning to think that people with normal IQ levels are really at a disadvantage when it comes to learning how to think critically, especially when it involves self-improvement. Thoughts?

IQ is not the end all be all of intelligence, IQ(intelligence quotient(misleading name)), is your ability to recognize logical patterns. There is more to intelligence than pattern recognition, if there wasn't computers would have wiped out humanity years ago.

tl;dl: there is more to human intelligence than IQ, an average score on an IQ test doesn't mean you can't succeed or innovate.

No, you are still a babby.
If you feel like your mind is less sharp, that is probably because you are not doing anything to keep it sharp.

Read, read, read.
Take notes, do not adopt opinions based on the tone of- or who wrote the text, formulate your own.
Approach any argument or statement from a critical position.

do you own a bicycle?
is it safe to ride a bicycle around the area where you live?
if not; get a bicycle rack. load up bicycle, go to area where there is lots of nature. ride the bicycle until it all makes sense.

balance exercise time with GTA time

Anything that requires critical thinking will keep you sharp. Studying things, solving problems, and so on.
Reading is good too, as long as it isn't lazy reading.

If you're unable to come up with any good ideas, just learn a new skill.

>I seem to have a difficult time being able to separate myself from emotional thought and objective thought.
High IQ people are not immune to this
Expose yourself more to ideas you disagree with and learn to overcome the emotional response and think rationally about the arguments presented and why they are not (or are) valid.
>>
>>132045508
One of the differences between high and low IQ seems to be the ability in high IQ individuals to entertain new/alternative ideas that challenge their convictions. Stupid people seem to be closed to alternative conceptions that appear challenging.
>>
>>132044770
Not being able to come up with new ideas would be pretty bad and depressing

A 2 sentence paragraph on /pol/ is the equivalent of a 2k page monograph.

Iq is not everything.

Learn to reason and think logically.

Read books. Soak up knowledge like a sponge.

If you ever have children get them reading at a early age at all costs and feed them the correct material.

>>132040096
I have a very high IQ and am 32 now. I have suffered a noticeable decline in my ability to learn new things. I am in IT and this is very important. I've looked into it, it has to do with aging. It sucks and there are things you can do like training or just spend more time learning. There is no real way to 'get it back' though.

24 isn't old, but exercise, eat plenty of protein, importantly get good sleep (at least 7 hours) and do so consistently and at the same time every night, read books and manipulate language regularly (write, debate, discuss complex topics, whatever).

Excatly, iq tests are relative and ambigious after all they are based on psichology, which is about as accurate as a drunk downie taking a piss standing up.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. From age 20 to 25, I felt like a veil was coming off my mind and I could finally understand what was going on around me and how the world actually functions. I'm 27 now and it's like the world suddenly gelled together and I see how I fit into it.

"Normal" IQ would be somewhere around the 100 range + or - 5-10 depending on where you live.

That's ludicrously stupid. If you're hovering around average IQ, you might as well sign up for special classes because you're a moron.

What's killing you is that no one has told you this. So you think that you're intellectually losing your grip, but what's happening is that now that you're done with physical maturity you're no longer seeing any regenerative growth or physical neural pathway expansion in your brain. So the literal feeling of new experiences being novel is dying away.
But if you had been told that your were pretty stupid regularly and often, you would have accepted this state by now, and could have been emotionally ready to move one with your life, being a happy dum dum. That's what people did in the past, they were honest, and dumb people knew they were dumb. But it didn't matter because intelligence is no replacement for effort. So long as you work hard, you'll feel fulfilled and be useful to the larger society and people will like you (I mean, you can't be too much of a jerk, but I'm assuming the best of you here anon).

You were lied to. This was done on purpose so that you'd lash out at people who were being honest with you. This would inrease your sense of alienation, and therefore you would be more emotionally pliable to easy solutions that would be offered to you en masse (this is exactly how nigger and spic minorities are controlled btw).
So anon, accept the following: you're an idiot. But it doesn't fucking matter. You can still be happy.
