Do you mean for your application? It's usually good when you apply as a frontend dev to have some kind of reference sites. Maybe just make a personal website that is built well or something like that. It really depends on where you apply, and theres always some luck in having a person on the other side that just likes your style of application. If you are more of a technical guy, a GitHub link is always nice, maybe you wrote some jQuery plugin or something, that for example could be a plus.

Hosting is really cheap nowadays, you can get cheap webspace everywhere. Just get some of that.

Not everyone. You must specifically look for places where they look for frontend developers. Or simply JavaScript developers.

If you know the frontend stuff, why not just learn some PHP too. It's not that terribly difficult when you know JS. Then get some knowledge about MySQL and maybe even build something with it.

Just always remember, the time you invest in learning that stuff will make your life better long-term. If you learn how to build a website from the ground-up you are basically over-qualified, looking at the people you have to deal with every day. It's 90% talking and 10% skill.
