All the international NGOs that work seriously with refugees said at the beginning of this bullshit resources were better spent near Syria than elsewhere, one of the cited reasons was that people could return to rebuild.
Another reason is obviously that the cost of welfare for one refugee here is worth 100 or 1000 in a refugee camp.
There was NEVER a humanitarian reason to support this. It was always a waste of money that hurt more people than it saved, and that's even discounting what a colossal clusterfuck it become.
