No matter what there will always be a human component. Somebody has to oil the machines and if not that, somebody has to fill the oil canisters. I think it'll be good in some respects, and much worse in others. In some cases automation takes away no jobs but infact increases output i.e. Milling by Hand vs CNC milling. Automation however cannot replace everything. I don't think automation will ever replace every human job but it will definitely take low skill jobs.

Part of progress, people will adapt and find new ways of coping with change. It will probably raise the standard of living in the long wrong. But in at the same time if it is introduced aggressively, nobody is able to pay for the products created by a fully automated industry. Which in turn these industry's will fail. anyway turbulent times lots of interesting things coming up.

Software has been replacing millions of workers for years now, i don't see the big deal with robots doing it aswell.
