Why do people support this? If Obongo got elected, then you can just vote him out in 4-8 years. If he were crowned king, we'd have to wait for him to die

The presidency can hardly do anything.
The monarch is supposed to write all the talking points of the nation plus creating the game for the aristocratic factions to play by.
Now, aristocrats who are in power longer than 4 years create a shaped hole in the ground that they stuff the president, making him work around the limitations they give him.
As a result, you now have a faceless bureaucracy who can't be held accountable by the people and while there may be no king, every aristocrat (House of Bush, House of Clinton, Masons, Bilderbergs, etc.) will try to compete to be the new king.
They'll then just put on a front while they use those 4 years to just siphon resources and power to the rest of their aristocratic faction.
They all want to become de facto kings by appointing and filling every office with their people as opposed to a King keeping it tightly controlled.

Monarchist is by definition nationalistic. That and even with a king most support checks and balances like a parliament, constitution, lesser nobles - counts, dukes - or a combination.
Also guns.

and to add on:
Having only 4 years in office makes all your goals short-sighted and only there to boost your approval ratings, not to do anything that may appear bad or shaky with a really good end goal in mind that the plebs can't see yet. It makes it impossible to create a real legacy.
When a man makes a small store into an international corporation, do you think he just does it for 4 years and goes away or does he have to dedicate his WHOLE LIFE to shaping something into a fitting image through his actions?
Lastly, look up realpolitik.
It's impossible to judge a politician based on what they say, and only by their long-term actions. When you have people in office for just a few years, you literally have no idea who is really ruling you because their actions are so brief. With a king, you know who is ruling you, who can be held accountable, trust that he has the power to shape the country worth having a legacy, and he keeps aristocrats suppressed to maintain his own power.
