This, except "Higher up" should mean working in the corporate office, not inside a store. The store managers are all pathetic wage slaves as well. Working in retail means you have either just entered the workforce or have failed at life.

I don't do anything glamorous, nor am I anywhere close to wealthy. However, I worked retail as a teenager but even then I became aware that is was slavery. But anyway, I'm sure I'll catch plenty of shit for my actual job, but I don't care because I love my job and my life.
