I started working out of HS since I wasn't sure how to pay for college or if I even wanted to go, I've been working for about 2.5 years and have over 70k in the bank from living at home and saving every dime I make from a 45-50k job. If I work another 1.5 years I'll have over 100k, assuming I was to invest that in an index fund or something the average return is what, like 5-10%? So I'd effectively be adding 5-10k to my yearly salary, that's similar to a fresh college grad's salary, except with no debt and having a hundred fucking grand in the bank. And that's assuming I don't even get any pay raises which I have every reason to believe that I will.

If you go to grad school, then you specialize in one area, but this focus is so tight, it might not even be practical in the real world (oxidation of glutathione in various pH solutions), so you come out with something that is just useless. The academia professors say "but the degree proves you can DO RESARCHH N SHEIT" and "muh publications" "muh conferences" which nobody even asks you about at the interview process for a job.

I have a friend who works as a lab tech, he says that there are people who have worked there for 3-4 years still waiting for promotion. They have no vacation, no benefits, nothing. They can also get fired at any point, since there is like 14-15 candidates for that one job which are mostly med school drop outs. So chemistry is a perfect major for masochists. I can't count all those hours of sleep I lost while studying for quals and worrying about my lab project and thinking what to present at group meeting, since you have no data when half the shit in the lab doesn't even work properly cause it's 20+ years old.

But I definitely got good in the art of bullshitting through, which is what majority of the science papers are (sadly) nowadays.

Seriously, fuck engineers from the millennial generation. They're a dime a dozen these days. So many colleges pump them out with high GPAs that they didn't earn. Entry level jobs are starting to require masters degrees because people with B.S. degrees are so incompetent. Good luck getting a top notch job unless you're connected. Engineering degrees will soon be worthless.

A lot of people just start a small blue collar business, like plumbers or painters. A lot of people are independent realtors or Investors. Come to think of it, everything in our economy revolves around real estate (homes) and oil. You either work in oil, or you work in real estate so the oil drones have a place to stay. At least that's how it is in Texas. Anyone not in either of those fields is probably a service cuck servicing both classes.

i'm getting into trucking. i know it's a cuck job but i have nothing to live for so i may as well try traveling the country. pay is nowhere near the lifestyle you have to live but my company has amazing benefits, raises are constant with a high ceiling and with experience a trucker can branch out to all kinda of different jobs. over the road, regional, deficated, local, reefer, flatbed, tanker... it's not unheard of to make 70k+ after a couple years
