It means the government can't favor on religion over the other. It doesn't just mean they can't install a state religion. So this is unconstitutional.

Atheism was once simply lacking belief in a higher power. Now, it's autistic screeching if someone so much as brings up God and Jesus. I don't hate atheists, I don't even dislike them. I hate nihilist douchers who have to put someone down for their beliefs at any given opportunity. Unfortunately those people and atheists have meshed together in recent years. In the modern era, the average atheist looks and sounds a little something like one of these:

Yes, they are private school. We're talking about public schools here. And the public school system just made a law respecting one religion over the others. Which is blatantly unconstitutional.

>there is separation of church and state

No there's not. No where in the Constitution is that phrase used. It came from a letter from Thomas Jefferson who said:

>>I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.

So long as the class is optional, IE, you aren't forced by law to read the bible, there's nothing wrong with it.

Laws which ban the bible from being taught in school also violate the separation of church and state mantra, but you never hear anyone crying about that injustice.

American education is a clusterfuck because of shit like this. Can't see the forest because of the trees and all that.
>>
"The bill's sponsor says students need to understand the role the Bible played in American history."

"The bill, which easily passed the House and Senate, gives local school boards the option of developing a Bible literacy class as part of their social studies curriculum. The course would be elective, not required."

For fuck's sake, the Bible played a big role in our nation's history. It's not even required, from what the article says. I'm fine with it, personally, I think it's a pretty good idea, as long as it doesn't go into preaching.
>>
>>131694486
>So again I'm asking in what sense the Bible will be taught in public school.

I read the bible in highschool about 10 years ago in a public school. We studied the structure/psalms/etc from a writing perspective, that's it. At no point was anything promoted. It was treated like any other book and wasn't "preached" as it is in a church.

Only whiny atheist fags lose their shit over the idea of the bible, religion or anything tied to it being discussed or present in public.

I've met maybe one atheist in my life who actually studied religion, knew the bible better than most christians and was cool and non-judgemental to religious folks. One atheist I genuinely respected.

The rest of you are often ignorant, biggoted, fedora edgelords who want everything outside a house or church to be a religion-free safe space because of "muh-anti-science-free-thinking-whatever".

Anyone intelligent enough to function without having to be told that killing is wrong and that a cohesive society is good will be able to see straight through it.

Anti-religosity destroys society. Natural atheists are okay, forced atheists are pretty close to being "lost souls" and incomplete people.

No, it doesn't you liar. Circumcision was a covenant between the Jews and God. First Century Christians did not support such a practice post the advent of the Christian Congregation. When Peter said of how the Holy Spirit revealed that you shouldn't be bothered with that anymore, and then the Holy Spirit revealed what one should concern themselves with, circumcision was not one of them. Paul went on to say that the old law was impaled with the body of Christ so there was thereby created a new covenant, a spiritual one that's not brokered by fleshly things like circumcision but rather a circumcision of one's heart.

>The bible is full of contradictions. There is no way to teach it in whole without shitloads of debating over which book is correct. It's not a concise document at all.

You do realize you can teach the bible without teaching theology? The bible is at the heart of thousands of years of historical and cultural importance. It's impossible to properly understand history without knowing about the bible. That's like trying to understand the middle east without knowing a god damn thing about Islam. A learned person can know these things without adopting the theology.

I'd argue a big part of the cultural problems today is due to the push to completely wipe out our "religious" past. Too much of western identity is tied to religion, and by wiping it out you get millenials and other generations who have no identity or roots in anything.

I really don't know what you fear anyway. It's not like we're teaching Islam. The theology of the bible is not a threat to the west or humanity, or even more modern philosophy like enlightenment principles of individual rights. It's really only a threat to degeneracy. Is degeneracy the future? Is degeneracy the key to man's pursuit of happiness which religion was holding us all back from? Too many people seem to think humanity's next step forward is by embracing degeneracy and cultural marxism.

When did I suggest the bible couldn't be read in school. You are creating a strawman. I am merely suggesting that a governmental body cannot show preference to a religion. And it blatantly says that in Kentucky's constitution. You have no leg to stand on.

Perhaps that is why you insist to attack a strawman instead of my argument.

You're comparing two works of fiction to another. Both are as likely to have actually occurred as the other.

The only reason the bible should be taught in schools is for its effect on real history, and how it has influenced real people and real events over the eons. Not the content of the book itself, which is pure fiction.

World religions classes in high school cover the most populous of religions, but not all of them. Is it then establishment of religion? Is awareness about religions establishment of religion? The most common religion in America is Christianity, yet students shouldn't be aware of what people believe?

Establishment of religion is forcing students to be Christians, however, teaching students what is in the Bible but not compelling them to accept it is a social studies course.

Luke does not say Jesus went to Egypt. It's a contradiction.

Look at pic related. That's the "wisdom" they want to bestow on your children. Christian gas lighting sure is better than those old history smishtory books.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_into_Egypt

The Gospel of Luke does not recount this event, relating instead that the Holy Family went to the Temple in Jerusalem, and then directly home to Nazareth.[4] Followers of the Jesus Seminar thus conclude that both Luke's and Matthew's birth and infancy accounts are fabrications.[5][6] A theme of Matthew is likening Jesus to Moses for a Judean audience, and the Flight into Egypt illustrates just that theme.[7]

No, just the executive will of the people. If they decide they want religion, they can do so. They simply cannot deny the ability of others to continue practicing their own.

Doesn't mean they can't support a specific one, so long as the people agree with it. How do you think churchs are allowed to be tax exempt?
Do you even understand law? Maybe you should read the bible, as it is pretty much a really old law book. It can really help you understand the philosophies behind ideas in law.

>No preference shall ever be given by law

And they made a law for their government institution to show students how great the teachings of the Bible are. So there is a legal issue there. They'd need to take care of the constitution first for this to be legal.

No where does it say that all religions must be given equity of representation, simply that the government CANNOT prohibit some religions in favor of others.
Luckily for Kentucky, they aren't forcing people to change their religion, nor are they prosecuting religious minorities. They are simply adding some specifics to their education, which is in their right.

You need to educate yourself on the purpose of the constitution. The document is not giving rights or direction to the government, but restricting them from interferring with the individuals will. What you are proposing be done is exactly what the constitution prohibits.

Because the article talks about the values of the Bible. If their angle is "a historical way" then it's just a jewy way of teaching the Bible to kids that every can see. We both know it whether you admit it or not; so would a judge. Ignore this all you'd like.

And no I'm not bias against religion. I'm bias against illogical arguments. I think a christian theocracy would be better than our current republic. However I don't act like a sjw about it. This is not true. As I said before several times, and I quote: "No preference shall ever be given by law to any religious sect, society or denomination; nor to any particular creed, mode of worship or system of ecclesiastical polity" Now, this is very very straight forward. You are choosing to ignore it for some reason and only focus on what the law says after this. If you cannot face the fact that this is what the law says, then we don't have much else to discuss.

White flight literally happens when blacks overrun a school so all the white people move so that their kids can go to better schools. If you could just pull your kid out willy nilly they wouldn't have to move. But let me guess, you have the freedom to move if you don't like it?
>>
>>131699225
>Teaching about a religion is not a preference to a religion.
True. And using that reasoning in order to evangelize to kids is also a great way to install religion on a government institution. So no, this is not that.

Luke does not leave a gap of time for Jesus’s family to flee to Egypt and then travel to Nazareth.

Good. Kentucky sucks more now. Much better for other states that don't suck.

>Teaching it objectively and historically would disprove much of what the religion says.

Teaching that the Bible is objectively wrong is a good example of establishment of religion. Teaching students about the role the Bible played in American culture throughout it's history is not.

That's still not a bad thing though, if anything I'd think I would be a good thing to pull out the ethics and morals from a religion so everyone can try put them in their everyday lives. Seeing as Christianity grew up alongside the west it's not like these parables and lessons are completely foreign. There's a reason these stories have been around for so long.

Because they're butt hurt fag loving degenerates that's why. The sin inside of them is pre programmed to be butt hurt by any mention of God's righteous judgement. Atheist could read a gazillion bits of fancy and fiction, mythology and science fantasy. Talk about the bible, it'd be like pouring acid on German Roaches. they'd squeal and jostle and jump around, jump around, jump up jump up and get down.

Separation of Church and State is a meme. Idk why you fedora fags don't just google it.

It's a precedent derived from keeping the Federal govt out of religion, its not some unalienable Right. Many states in the past have openly had state religions, mostly protestantism. Furthermore, you can teach the Bible without requiring a religious bias. and just b/c they teach the bible doesn't mean the state condones or is biased towards a particular religion.

The States can do w/e the fuck they want to in regards to religion. Supreme Court has ruled this time and time again.

Where are you getting all these strawmen? Is there a supply in your shed? Brainwashed, propagandized, multicultural zombies are mostly some form of cafeteria Christian. Atheists are much more outspoken against Islam than Christians.

>Christards import every kind of low IQ subhuman into civilized counties en mass
>Look at those homos over there, oh shit it's all over!

Funny how most classical civilizations had no problem with homosexuality. Christians are just anti-everything that came before them. Just like Muslims hating dogs because the old Persians loved them.

meaning they're giving the power to the school.

Though it should be treated like a foreign language, where there are multiple religions. but knowing 21st century america if Islam isnt an option your schools going to be shamed into oblivion. sad.
