The problem is that deformative traits aren't usually detectable in outward genetics until it's usually too tale. Take alopecia for example, it's a genetic disease that's becoming more and more common in today's society that only appears in men however the gene is carried on the female X chromosome. They don't get affected by alopecia unless both chromosomes carry the disease which is incredibly rare, and there's no way to detect it in a female without mapping their entire human genome. However, over 90% of women now carry the disease and will pass it on to their male offspring.

Even if you single out all the men with alopecia and don't allow them to reproduce you will never get rid of the disease because it is spread by women who show no signs of the disease.
