The sad thing about these movies is that they could definitely tell either their socialist messages or a right wing message in a thought provoking way while also being exciting action movies, but the people behind them are so inept that they bury their commie propaganda in completely dead drama and lackluster action.

Pic related is the only interesting part of the entire plot and ironically its about a bunch of entitled, degenerate middle class schools girls (ringleader: black) who use the purge to kill their parents, steal people's shit and attack an honest shop keeper. Pretty much the exact opposite of the message that the films have attempted to preach (i.e. that the purge is an ebil social institution designed to eliminate poor minorities, keep the little people fighting each other and let the rich treat the poor like animals... hint, hint, wink, wink etc.).

This. If all crimes are legal, anyone with access to hacking can just steal money from banks freely, or corporate enemies. Also, bioweapons and nuclear weapons use would become legal, and national defense would go to shit because other countries would all love to invade on purge day.
