Why do Republicans hate electric cars?

I don't know. Frankly I don't get why electric cars arouse such strong emotions in some people. I'm not sure they are that much more environmentally friendly but I just think they're cool.
>>
>>131641220
Because they are not enviromentally friendly, and if everyone starts using them, electric prices will go up, and where the hell will everyone charge them?

Must use more efficient Petro to mine then process for batteries then manufacture. Not environmentally friendly. Not efficient. If environmentalists really gave a shit they would look to new methods of combustion process and capturing all output possible through new muffler/catalytic means. Or just create software to cheat like VW.

Well, they are (but only if your electricity is eco friendly)
But i support them for different reasons.
Electricity can be produced by different means, gas by only one. And gas is basically fuelling (money-wise) everything wrong wit this earth currently. (Islamic terrorism, dictatorships, imperialism) Electric cars would grant us independence from crazed Arabs. This is also reason why i dream so much about fusion. Would end energy geopolitics forever.

True, but they're also an actual viable fuel source. Our entire nation's demand for them can be supplied already without massive subsidies into "green" energy startups that amount to huge cash giveaways to german and chinese manufacturers.

>Must use more efficient Petro to mine then process for batteries then manufacture.

Already does. I mean Elon does. He opens the factory close to lithium mine so no cost of transportation. He makes factory use full renewable so no carbon production while making batteries. He makes factory modular so every improvement in efficiency can be quickly applied. Rare earth mining does not have much to do with batteries. Only five percent of a battery is rare earth material and it's gonna be recycled in the factory. It's a one time operation.

>If environmentalists really gave a shit they would look to new methods of combustion process and capturing all output possible through new muffler/catalytic means.

They do give a shit and they are searching for all methods like fuel cells and synthetic fuel etc. Electricity has no cost of transportation so it's preferred.

I work at a mechanic shop and I can say with certainty that environmentalists care less about the environment than anyone else. Don't blame republicans for their stupidity. It was those tree hugging faggots that introduced the EGR system, and let me tell you, the amount of fuel wasted by EGR systems is fucking criminal.

EGR stands for Exhaust-Gas Recirculation, and what it does is in the name. It cycles your exhaust fumes back through your engine and burns it as fuel. The goal is to "clean" your exhaust, but it only succeeds in dropping your emissions. The exhaust isn't cleaned, it's caked into/onto every fucking hose, line, pipe, injector, fan, etc. If it is involved in the combustion process at all, the EGR system slathers smog all over it.
This causes all sorts of fucked up shit to start happening to your engine. God forbid the EGR valve itself get stuck open, which happens a lot. You're in for a $500 repair or you have a vehicle that can barely pull it's own wheels let alone the rest of the cab. Oh, and the best part? It doesn't help the environment AT ALL. EGR systems drop the fuel efficiency of vehicles so much that it would be more 'environmentally friendly' to not have them at all in the first place. The oil refinement process to make the fuel you are wasting by having an EGR system generates more pollutants than just running the fuel through an efficient motor.
End result is you have a vehicle that breaks down more frequently and has less power and you are contributing more to the production of smog than if you wouldn't have this eco-friendly bullshit on your rig.
God I hate liberals so much

>fuel mileage jumps up to 22mpg

For a vehicle that finally bit the dust at 600k miles, that's a fucking massive amount of fuel that would have been wasted without deleting the EGR system.
Lets do the math
16mpg for 450k miles is 28,125 gallons of fuel total
22mpg for 450k miles is 20,454.54 gallons of diesel
By throwing out the EGR system on a single vehicle, 7,670.46 gallons of diesel were saved.
>>
>>131641784
>I'm not sure they are that much more environmentally friendly

They are not really that much better for the environment because the battery has to be charged using fossil fuels when it plugs in. Unless you charge on a solar grid or hydro, some coal plant somewhere is releasing some amount of greenhouse gas to get the electricity so you can drive without emissions. Depending on where you live they could be, but for the most part that energy has to come from somewhere. People forget that if you use electricity from the plug somewhere pollution is probably being generated to get that electricity.
>>
>>131641220

Why? There is a major potential for abuse, but the massive boost to productive abilities across the globe is just too good to pass up imo. The trucking industry would be slammed and that sucks for truckers, but the costs of so much shit would drop along with the cost of transporting goods. Transportation is one of the largest bottlenecks to massive-scale production, too. Whittling away at that behemoth is a good thing
>>
>>131646024

It isn't a far stretch to invest a couple thousand into solar panels and a battery bank in order to generate the energy in a cleaner way. Now, if it's true that solar panels are ultimately more costly to generate than the energy they can maximally produce then ecofags are shit out of luck lol
>>
>>131648429
Regardless of their purpose, the result is the same dipshit. Major loss in fuel mileage and so many mechanical issues that it just isn't worth the hassle. Any vehicle I get is going to receive a full EGR delete along with an aftermarket chip. It might cost more upfront, but the vehicle will last longer and take up less fuel overall

>>
>>131648541
>Also , hydro master race.
Not feasible for most of the world. Neither is geothermal, or really even wind and solar. Too much outlay, upkeep, and square footage, not enough output.

If you're boosting electric cars, and not nuclear power, idk what's wrong with you. Also the convo can't be had without focusing on sourcing the rare earth elements and where products are manufactured, by who, and how they're transported.

I think the electric fags will be surprised to see that blood lithium will make blood diamonds pale in comparison.
>>
>>131642508

>>
>>131641784
I like the instant torque, but that doesn't mean we must charge cars for 8 hours a day and only be able to drive up to 100 miles before requiring said charging time.
It may be more fuel efficient on the long term, but it isn't environmentally friendly to build them.
Honestly if electric cars were just hybrids with capacitors and a big electric motor or two for highway cruising and optional 4WD, there'd be nothing wrong with them. Instead they're this big eco fad with more problems than they're worth.

There's also hydrogen, but that's even more complicated thanks to the physics involved. Good luck with those compressed tanks, and the conversion process demands an excessive efficiency loss from production of the fuel all the way to using it.

Realistically, we're stuck with petrol. Maybe in 50 years we'll see a thorium-powered prototype. Who knows.
>>
>>131648586
yup pretty much. I like the idea of elon musks solar shingles, they are pretty cool. Im not against green energy, but many many people don't understand how it works and why its hard to be energy efficient.

I read a story about these new energy producing speed bumps burgerking installed in their drive-thru. The car had to drive over the bump, it would press down, creating energy. The problem is, its not green at all, its powered by gasoline from the car. The exact amount of energy generated from pushing down the speed bump with the car was expelled from the vehicle needing extra energy to drive over the speed bump. They would have to have the drive-thru downhill in order for it to make more energy than it takes to operate.

That barely matters in a gas car though. The car mainly runs on oil products not coal.

>Why do Republicans hate electric cars?
Because they are overpriced and total shit, and feed the delusions of leftist retards who don't understand where electricity and batteries come from.
>>
>>131643445
Not even remotely the same thing faggot
You can charge your phone anywhere
Car charger will be mandated by the city and local and even federal government and they will decide if you can use them or not
My dad sent me an article in 2011 of an EU mandate that more or less said when electric cars become the norm they will have street lamps with chargers for your car and the local government with switch off your power to charge someone else's car at night even if you want to charge your own.
They also said police will have access to shut your car off as they please(fucking Toyota and some OnStar policies already do this for the cops if they call and ask

Our country is 36% Nuclear, (could be 100, but we sell it to Austria and Croatia,) 21 Coal, 36 Hydro.

What would happen when your enemies run out of the resources that you want
>>
>>131648778
That's the whole point
They want you to embrace the feeling of nothingness and lack of involvement so when they push driverless cars world wide you won't be opposed to it because you've forgotten what driving a car even felt like.

You fall back on your reserves while your enemy fights among themselves.

They don't hate electric cars. They hate being forced to use technology that is inferior to what they currently have.

When electric cars are better than gas cars, they will switch to electric.

>Gets laid constantly for looks + he's a body paint artists and owns a slutty costume shop that's huge
>Have never met another straight person like him that was raised by gays that wasn't a giant flaming homo
Question Anon, have you ever met a homo that drives an electric car? I have legitimately never met one

Again, you clearly don't know where electricity and batteries come from.

We should kill the sand-niggers and take over the oil fields in the Middle East. Who fucking cares what kikes think of that.

I'd be ok with them if we greatly increased our nuclear energy capacity.
Not that I'll stop driving a gas vehicle course. Vroom vroom.

The problem there is not necessarily oil but the existing auto manufacturers who restrict the free market by not allowing car sales without a dealership. Tesla skips the dealership model to help keep that middle man cut off the sale out of the picture.

So in the end it's job protectionist laws that restrict how does are done in the market. I smell lobbyists looking to control the market here.

>>131652701
Why nuclear? We're on the verge of cheap grid-scale energy storage, and solar prices have continued to fall through the floor.

This isn't about them being Republican. These guys are the sons of an oil baron. They don't know shit about doing anything else, so they are threatened by electric cars because they will lose a shit ton of money when electric eventually takes over in a couple decades.
>>
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want an electric car desu. A one-off investment and you're no longer reliant on (((oil))) - over the space of a few years you'll save thousands on petrol costs. Now they just need to (a) extend the range of how far you can drive per charge and (b) make some less shitty looking cars (Teslas are the only nice-looking electric cars at the moment, and their meme-tier and expensive as fuck).
