Religion serves as a tool for the few to influence the masses, it is not a good thing. Having faith and believing in God is not a bad thing, however. Religion uses this to its advantage though, that people need something to believe in and will defend it. It's in human nature to have faith in some god. It helps many in their daily struggle, it's comforting to believe that there's heaven after you die and that someone is watching over you at all times. It's easier for many people to rely on their faith, there's nothing wrong with it. It also teaches people morals and is the only thing that makes some keep to these morals. But it's retarded to think that some god won't let you into heaven because you didn't go to church or something. Like, think about it for a moment. If you are a good person then why would a loving God refuse you eternal life because of not going to some stupid building and praying at home instead, or praying occasionally? There are many people who follow their religion blindly like that, don't do this, or do but take a moment to think about it at least.
But here's the catch, the most important thing. Now, in this timeline, if Christians start believing in God and not in the religion, our culture and civilization will fall. We can't reject the Church now. It's not the time and place for a change like that, Christianity needs to stay a strong religion if we want to survive as a civilization. I say this as an atheist. I just don't know if there is someone like God, no one does, there's no way to be sure. I just don't think there is one. But I sometimes wish I had something to look forward to after I die.
