Is serving in the military based, /pol/? Or is it a glorified welfare system for NEETs and betas who can't hack it in the real world?
>inb4 good goy fight for Israel
A mix of both. Its what you make of it, and what your branch/MOS is. There's always a Military Enlistment General /meg/ up on /k/. You should ask there.

I signed up as an infantryman during the Afghanistan surge in late 2008, and although I don't really believe in the war I fought in it turned my life around in pretty much every conceivable way. There arent many NEETs and betas in the infantry but you still get that demographic who played too much call of duty. Those people will either adapt or get out though, generally. I got out about 3 years ago and now I do contract work.

>wanted to become a gunsmith
>enlist in the Forces
>Weapons Technician (Land)
>grew spruce moustache, as is tradition
>got paid to learn gunsmithing+
>leave regular forces
>now private gunsmith
>kept spruce moustache
>still in Militia to take additional courses when available
There's a good deal of value in enlisting provided your reasons aren't retarded.
