Socialists and communists hide under the "Social liberals" label because if you out yourself as a Communist or socialist in America you are committing political suicide.

"Social Liberals" gets shortened to "Liberals" for both convenience and to hide the socialist undertones. Then these full blown socialist and communists push where "liberals" stand further and further to the left..

Now you get where we are today, "Liberals" advocating for socialist/communist positions completely opposed to the Philosophy of Liberalism.
