I like Confucius, definitely worth reading the Analects. However, whilst the philosophy sounds good on paper, the Confucian conflict with Legalism is somewhat similar to the conflict that Libertarians face today with authoritarianism.
The idea that you can convince people to change their behavior and become better through culture, tradition and ritual rather than rigorous enforcement of laws.
I used to look to Confucius for some inspiration, but it is the legalists who tend to win. Many regimes in China preached Confucius on the face of it, but in reality they practiced legalism.
