Aug 31, 2003 it was the night Mars was closet to Earth in like 20,000 years or something (don't know if that's relevant but its a neat detail.)
I was 18yo, and my moms basement was like the party basement for friends of mine, my sister and brother. So there was always lots of ppl over and this night was no exception.
I was chatting w/ a friend on IRC and he said he was coming over to smoke a joint. Of course I said sure. He lived about 5km away, 1hr walk.
About an hour later my mom comes in the computer room panicking like, saying, "You have to come see this. Come see this now. Cmon" So I do. I go out on the back step to where my friend is who said he was coming over, and my other friend was who was in the basement chilling the whole time. They point: there is a MASSIVE ship in the sky. And I mean MASSIVE. I figure it was about 200 yards in length and looked like the width was two Naval Jet Carriers on top of one another. I immediately said "its a blimp" but as I was saying that I knew I was wrong, this was no blimp. It was cigar shaped and metallic and black w/o any lights. It was moving through the air above the ocean towards my house. At this point my sister and her two friends came out - 6 total witnesses. All of us freaking out by what we were seeing.
It didn't make a sound. Not a fricken sound. Something that large in the sky moving gracefully and not making a noise. It got to directly above my house, probably only 100 years above it, and then started ascending straight up, again not making a sound. It did this without any real maneuvering. Its as if its propulsion was coming from one side of the cigar shape when it came towards us and then from the bottom of the ship when it got above us, but yet there was no visible mechanism for flight and again, completely silent. There is no known technology that can do that. It ascended straight up until we couldn't see it anymore, taking about ten seconds to do so..

And there's more. My friend who walked to my house told me that when he left his house he looked in the sky and saw a blinking light like on a plane in the sky, but for some reason chose to keep looking at it. He said when he could make it out it was the classic triangle shaped UFO. He said it went directly above his head and moved along the horizon until it circled back around to above his head. He said it did this three times in the time it took to get to my house. When he arrived he went into my basement and told my friend that was there he just was followed by a UFO. My friend of course didn't believe him but went outside to look with him. They spotted it. That's when they got my mom. The ship I saw was like nothing ever described in TV or from the cooks that claim they seen UFOs or in popular media. This was something I didn't have prior references of. So its seems like that was the mother ship and the triangle one was a smaller vessel. It was the strangest thing I've ever experienced.
We rarely talk about it or tell it to anyone who wasn't there because we sound like cooks and we can't prove it and we don't care to try and prove it, we don't give a shit if we're believed or not and we get asked like, "Are you sure it wasn't a plane or a star or maybe it was just MARS because it was really bright that night. .
