Even back then most of those great scientists were Christians and Jews living in the Caliphate. Anyone who's spent any time around Arabs finds the idea of them being scientifically-minded completely laughable - including the Arabs themselves which is why they hire Brits, Germans, and Americans to take care of all their power plants and sophisticated military equipment.

I dont think that's a fair use of statistics. The arab world is lacking in good universities and the smart arabs will often go to western universities and publish in those countries. Furthermore it doesn't take into account the arabs residing in the west. Universities are full of arab students, many phD students as well. The tables have turned from the past when the european royalty and upper class used to send their children to the muslim world to get an education.

You know there is quite a lot of black literature, right? I was forced to read it in high school.

There weren't many even 1000 years ago, most of the best "arab" scientists were from Sicily or from Spain
