In a month from now the model 3 releases

Analysts say they will be able to build 80k cars by the end of 2017, and Tesla says they will be able to build 10k cars a week by the end of 2018, easily building the 500k reservations by then.

Will Tesla kill the ICE/dealership mafia? The 3 series is gonna die in the US definitely

I've heard charger networks are already overwhelmed. And the Bolt seems a more reasonable investment. Frankly I'd drop the battery range to 150. Average driver only drives 30 miles a day.
>>
>>131275155
They are doubling the number of charging stations and expanding existing ones

The bolt is ugly as fuck and is gm trash
>>
>>131274616
>easily building the 500k reservations by then.
The reservations numbers have been around 400k for more than 15months now. There was an initial surge and that was it. You just had to pay 1k which was completely refundable. Essentially like opening a small bank account.

The problem is that most of these reservations aren't currently being transfered into sales. People just wanted to say they are on the reservation list, they aren't all interested in really buying one of the cars.

https://electrek.co/2017/03/25/elon-musk-tesla-model-3-reservation-holders-buy-model-s/

Tesla has delivered 25k cars in Q1 2017... compared to e.g. 2500k cars by Volkswagen.

Let's see how much they deliver in all of 2017 and all of 2018 and then go from there, shall we?

Of course the model s look better but it's cost 70k it's too much for 90% of people's. The model 3 look ugly and the interior cockpit is shit.
>>
>>131275628
Yes, that was my point.

Call me once Tesla is say 20% of Volkswagen or 20% of Toyota in terms of vehicle sales. Then I believe their relevance and consumer adoption.
>>
>>131275791

Even without the reservations they have the capacity to produce 4-500k cars which would make them larger than MB and BMW, #1 in the US luxury market with 3 cars doesn't sound so bad

Model 3 looks 10x better then any POS BMW 3-series I've been on. Just yesterday I was driving a loaner X4M and I couldn't believe the shitty quality of interior for a "luxury" brand. My dad's 2017 Honda Accord looks better than that POS. German cuck luxury is a meme. The C-class looks much better but it's not worth the pricetag, that's why nobody is buying them in the US. The Model 3 will be the death of all "luxury" brand in the US. Screencap this faggot.

In a recent Motor Trend test, the Model S P100D hit 0-60 mph in 2.275507139 seconds using a new Easter egg mode called Ludicrous+. No production car has ever cracked 2.3 seconds during the magazine's testing, it said. That's faster than Tesla's original promise of 2.5 seconds, and faster than the 2.389 second time recorded by the Tesla Racing Channel in January."

I live in a poor province with 0 electric car subsidies and there's basically a 0% chance the extra investment of buying an electric car will pay for itself over the life of the vehicle.

The entire electric car industry is smoke and mirrors at this point.

I must disagree somewhat. At the time the 600 was the most opulent car of the period. That isn't the case anymore and Mercedes have lost that title to the likes of Rolls Royce and Bentley. Both today own the most luxurious cars in production. Along with the specialized customer service they make the owners of the cars feel like royalty, especially Rolls Royce. Mercedes still make very nice cars though.

as someone who works in the semiconductor industry, no, yields do not get better. Yes, they can shrink the transistors and die but yield doesn't improve. Smaller die means tighter tolerances and mechanical testing equipment also needs to be more precise.

Hell, depending on how new the process is, yields will be shit for the first few quarters at least. sometimes, they just deal with 20% yields to get product out the door.

Other than the digital tachometer in the dash I think the Honda S2000 has one of the best interiors ever. Buttons are simple and all oriented as close as possible to the steering wheel. Stereo can be hidden behind a folding panel so it isn't distracting. If it had a traditional analog tachometer and speedometer it would be perfect.

This. It's actually better for the battery to be away from the engine bay since heat is bad for batteries. And so is extreme cold when you aren't in operation, and being burried in the trunk space gives it more insulation than being openly exposed under the hood.

Also they need more room under the hood for all the crappy turbo chargers and variable valve timing systems they like to slap on engines these days.

Especially if you get X-Fab to make your wafer, don't expect more than 90% yields on a simple design.

sure, i guess they'd be nice in the city. but the US is so spread out I doubt they will ever put more Tesla chargers on the US highways. Interstates seem covered though.

Energy cost to make a car vs cost of petrol for few years of operation of a normal car.

these cars are dead on arrival, why?

A/C, normal car compressors are just tied to the engine so people dont notice the small reduction in horsepower

the tesla has to run a compressor straight off the battery that draws a huge amount of amperage, so they short the compressor and put a baby one in, look at all the tesla reviews every single one complains about the A/C

Fat americans wont be able to drive a couple miles before passing out in these

They use like 2.4-3.5 times less energy if powered by the same fossile fuel like burning the gas/coal/oil in the power plant with 60%+ efficiency vs pathetic ice that is lucky to get 25% and EV are much more efficient as an architecture.

Teslas are expensive as hell and subsidies have little impact on these as when car starts at 70k.Model S has outcompeted S class and other from its market segment it is not a damn corolla to sell in millions of units

>believing these production numbers
they have never once come anywhere near their targets, and they're about to get assfucked hard when states individually realize they can just not implement any new emissions controls. some states might even roll theirs back, effectively undoing the paris accord, completely eliminating the value of the federal subsidy that virtually every single tesla buyer relies on when they pick that thing over any other car.

They need a connection to the much more expensive subsidized logistics grid known as oil and gas.

Or what, you thought your car ran on unicorn farts and stopping at the gas station was just an ice-cream social for faggots?

At least with ev, you can charge with any source of power. You could use a handcrank even. Doesn't matter because electricity is electricity. Jim Bob won't be hand cranking crude into gasoline anytime soon.

You realize that the only reason Tesla is "losing" money is because they're building a Supercharger network like no other company in the entire world right? They literally have BTFO of the competition and they're not content with that, they keep building them and they'll never stop doing so until the market is saturated and 99% of trips are covered in one way or another by the range. Retards in /pol/ don't even have the hindsight to realize that Tesla is the gateway to a more libertarian society with less government intervention.

>screwing big global (((car companies))) out of their sales
>screwing (((power companies))) with solar panels and battery storage options
>screwing (((oil companies))) long term
>screwing (((government))) by circumventing gas taxes and being more independent in many other forms

In 10-15 years you will be able to live in a suburb/farm and create enough energy with your solar panels to satisfy the daily energy needs and store the rest (or sell it to you neighbor essentially screwing big power companies which will lose their monopoly). You can store the surplus and use it to charge your car or even sell it to the grid at peak demand making even more money. You will be able to give them your middle finger and continue with your life.

At this rate in 10 years a Model 3-type car of $30k will most likely be able to drive 500 miles in one charge. That's a ridiculous achievement for any other company in the world.

But surely... go on and autistically screech "muhhh goverment subsidies" as if oil, power and ICE car companies don't get those.

In conclusions: KYS shilltards

Yes.

Normal car makers:
>Let's all use the same boring standardized plug so our customers can charge at 95% of all superchargers and 100% of regular charging poles at people's homes and offices.

Tesla:
>You want to charge? just drive 30km in the wrong direction because we don't use pleb plugs that work on 95% of all supercharging stations, HELL NO! only the 5% special Tesla (TM) stations are good enough for our cars.
>so amazing! such innovation.

Wait a second, US average energy cost is $0.12 per kWh, Tesla batteries are a minimum of 60kWh so the cost to refill a battery is $0.12*$60=$7.2 which in a best case scenario, probably consisting of highway cruising with minimal speed change is 265miles or $7.2/265mi=$0.03/mi. Bering in mind that cities and suburbs have higher energy costs of $0.17/kWh, $10.2 per battery, cost per mile is now $0.04/mile.

A brand new Honda Accord has a 17.2 gallon fuel tank, assuming same gas price it $37.84, a stated 47mpg is a range of 808.4. Which breaks down to $0.05/mile. A brand new Accord gets 47mpg which is $0.04/mile.
