Lets have a discussion about the rise of Synthwave/retrowave/vaporwave/etc. Recently an anon made a thread that asked people to post their youtube 'recommended' section and a lot of anons, including me. had some type of synthwave on there. It is by far one of my favorite genres of music but i cant explain why it appeals to people so much. More specifically, why do lots of young white guys that tend to be alt-right.
Having done some research on vaporwave, there is a (imo bullshit) claim that it is a marxist reaction to capitalism. Bullshit because i dont think the artists had that in mind when they were making ironic meme-y songs and it is mainly fringe media sites that attributed marxism to the genre. Second there are many fashy people that listen to it, no so much lefties (i think, this is judgemtnt from youtube comments and what kind of people it attracts). I mean there is Fashwave ffs.
TLDR, seems like a lot of young right wing white people listen to synthwave/retrowave/vaporwave/etc. What gives?
