The problem has been that communism has always been forced upon others without accounting for biological determinism. Even NatSocs acknowledge that people behave the way they do because of how they were born.

If you don't know r/K selection theory, let me give you the run-down:
Liberals (like commies) are like rabbits, reproducing without concern for the offspring, allocating resources without concern for the pack's welfare, and running like mad in the face of any danger.

Righties (like natsocs) are like wolves. They stick together as pack, they maintain a hierarchy, and behave to better the welfare of the pack.

Libertarians are like grizzly bears. They are generally loners who arm themselves to the teeth to secure what they need and defend themselves from perceived aggressors.

Regardless of whether you agree with that particular model, you have to acknowledge that all members of these different political movements are not willing members; I did not choose to be a libertarian, that's just the result of how I'm wired. NatSocs don't choose to be the way they are, that's just a consequence of their biology.

So, why is communism such a bad thing? It only "works" when all the members of a communist state are communists. If the rabbits all rose up and forced the rest of the animal kingdom to behave as rabbits, the rabbits would continue to do just fine, but the bears and wolves couldn't survive the way rabbits do because they would be betraying their innermost instincts and could never truly commit to the imposed way of life.

So I guess it's not communism that's bad, it's the ignorant application of it that we hate.

The human civilisation is evolving, I believe up to a point that one day it won't be necessary for that sort of mindset to be. Not quite, Christians are still big on family and marriage no matter what stripe they are. There also the notion of divine right with is inherent in some strains of Christendom and hierarchy is demanded. Resource wise Christianity is split between the old strains and Protestantism in which the Protestant work ethic makes individual work the key to salvation. The only issue is spreading which Catholics and evangelicals are big on, but Amish and other strains are insular and don't take people in easily. Islam couldn't be compared either.
