Once trump was elected, things immediately changed, there wasn't any more pressure from buyers and high demand became high supply. A quality, simple AR-15 can be had at $500 now, half of the sandy hook high. Some manufacturers also have rebates available which drop the prices another $100. This is the best time to buy in years.

The hearing protection act has more chance of success right now and it's better for shooters overall because guns are fucking loud. Going from 120 to 150 decibels is a 1000x increase...every shooter has some damage if he visits shooting ranges.

but in general milling out the lower on a drill press looks like absolute dog shit even if you do a good job and it is in spec when your done. I have a old Bridgeport mill from the 40's but i still dont mill my own lowers because they should still be bead blasted and finished to not look like shit and i like rollmarks (usually). And buying a premilled lower is always cheaper anyways. The whole unregistered thing is a meme they are never going to look you up on a 4473 and come knock on your door for your gun. And even if they did id tell them i lost it in a boating accident there's not a damn thing they can do. And if things did get that bad id be shooting them through the door with one of my .308's.
