The media spin on this race is such horseshit. They keep pointing to Tom Price's numbers, but he was an incumbent, and never had any serious opposition. It was always broke, no-name token Democrats. Jon Ossoff has the full backing of the national Democratic Party, who are laser-focused on this race, and have spent, last I saw, over $25 million on it, vs. $4 million for Karen Handel.

Donald Trump won this district by one point over Hillary Clinton in November 2016. This is not West Virginia, Ossoff losing would be a huge blow to the DNC and media narrative about everyone hating President Trump, no matter how close his loss may end up being.

Also note that Democrats lost a statewide special election in Massachusetts for the U.S. Senate in Obama's first year in office. The media didn't make half as big a deal about that as they would a hypothetical Ossoff win tonight. They didn't claim the public was so sick of Obama that Democrats lost in deep blue Massachusetts or anything, the way they will try to do with Trump over a House seat.

The districts that flipped from Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016 in Wisconsin and Michigan and so on were districts that saw the most Hispanic immigration (sauce: WSJ the day after the election). As the browns spread out more whites will vote more to the right.
