Lots of mistakes were made. Hitler shouldn't have declared war on the USA, Japan should have focused more on their army and assisted in the invasion of the Soviets from the east, and Mussolini should have waited 5 years or so until his nation was properly industrialized before trying to conquer the surrounding territory and just maintained a trade relationship with the Germans until then.

But hindsight is 20/20, and FDR was a cunt, but we've seen the results of our democracies and their communism, people are getting fed up with it and a rise in nationalism is following suit. If conditions worsen, Europe may yet again become fascist and NatSoc, and when that happens the USA may very well be on their side this time.
