Ahmmm, there is a 250 page report out there. You can just read it. It says that the bailed out bank put out a shitton of bad loans, mostly into the Spanish real estate sector. Those loans were leveraged, so you ended up with a majority of loans getting 0% back and even being margin called. So 80% of the asset portfolio of the bailed out bank was worthless. That is about 60 billion.

Nothing really to see here, Germany's bailed out banks cost over 400 billion to bail out for a new loss of around 70-80 billion. Austria's bailed out banks cost around 20 billion net and Austria is 6 or 7 times smaller than Spain.

60.613 million euros. This is the last calculation that makes the Bank of Spain on the part of the bailout that will not recover. The figure not far from the one offered by the Court of Auditors that, in a recent audit report, estimated that 60.718 million euros would be lost, just one hundred million difference. This means that almost 80% of the money invested in clean up basically to savings banks, which received State aid amounting to more than 76.410 million euros will be lost.

The Bank of Spain presented an extensive report of 257 pages in which reviewed not only the rescue but also the prolegomena, which led to the bankruptcy of the system, and details the current picture. This detailed report aims to clarify the role of regulators in this process, due to the questioning which has undergone it and the imminent opening of the Commission of inquiry on the rescue which will start in Congress.
