The bible is incredibly densely packed with wisdom, rules of thumb, inspiration, and it's all surprisingly relatable despite being 2000+ years old. You can place yourself in the stories and feel the emotion and gravity.

I've struggled to commit to Christianity after years of being an atheist, but the older I grow the more wisdom I find in the bible. I hear committing yourself, heart and soul to the doctrine is life changing and completely worth it. I just can't make that type of plunge though.

There's also an incredibly deep esoteric tradition you could spend lifetimes exploring. It's awe inspiring how complex, diverse, and multifaceted one book can be. The more I learn, the more I can see how it's divinely inspired.

I have the King James version and unless your reading comprehension is really bad, it's pretty easy to follow. I supplemented my reading with a "Great Courses" lecture series on Jesus and the Gospels. You can get it on Audible for 1 credit, though I'm not sure it's the best introduction.

All of the Great Courses series on Christianity have been great so far. I've listened to about 4. You can get a credit to spend on any of them if you sign up for a free Audible trial.
