How come a shithole such as iran which is surrounded by terrorists can be so effective against terrorist attacks, but a country such as the UK which has one of the most invasive surveillance systems in the world, and far away from any war zones and literally isolated by the rest of Europe by being an island keeps getting attacked?

Well a lot of data is better than none. They have automated systems that go through all of those anyways. You have a better chance of stopping all of it than Iran, yet you fail miserably.
