Liberals hate him because he has an incredible talent for getting away with almost whatever he wants to and they are currently one of the groups in his crosshairs.

Slow down, retard, what makes you think that a state-run shill media in Russia is one bit more credible than jew-run media in the states?

It's mind boggling, really is, the fact that despite all your skepticism when it comes to western media, taking anything with a boatload of salt, as it should be, you fall to the easiest baits by the Russian media (and frankly no one reads chink news and there's no other opposing power left), you eat up virtually anything

Just to name one
>Putin is anti-muslim
Whilst he opens mosques and they flood Russia (yes, of course not the arab muslims you'd think, everyone knows that)
>>
It's really an old discussion.

Competent dictatorship
vs
Incompetent democracy

Competent dictatorships are great, but they don't live forever and must be replaced by democracy eventually. The democracy in turn, can be supplanted by a hopefully competent dictator.

The US wishes they had someone as uniting as Putin - the way it is now, the US can't get anything done for it's own people because half the population is busy protesting and sabotaging the other half. It's a system created for stagnation.

Honestly... how does Colbert have this job.

This audience is disgusting with their david lynch themed canned laughter and sighs...

I am not a Putin fan boy at all..

But you have Stone come on this show, a guy who knows what he is talking about( secret history of united states documentary series)

and he is coming to share a story of his time spent in a situation that none of the normies will ever be in, let alone manage to dream about.

And they treat Stone like a punching bag...

you can see the discontent in his face as Colbert undermines him and then plants the seeds for the audience to take.

That audience is basically the future of not only America, but the whole world.

Braindead followers who dont think for them selves... being able to chuckle and make their concerned sighs was probaly the highlight of their night.

I am so depressed... why did I have to learn about the way the world was when these people are essentially the law of the land.

Imagine saying what stone did at work, church, or among your peers... imagine how you would be tared and feathered...

the only reason they didnt lash out at stone is because of their idol worship.. they may not like him, but they respect him and they know they cant measure up... so they just wait for times to collectively undermine Stone... all while the laugh sign blinks in front of them.

Why did I have to learn about this shit.

I mean it's pretty damn obvious that they haven't been able to achieve anything since USSR collapsed, their bread and butter to this very day is oil and other minerals

The "oil needle" they have been sitting on for generations; the economy of new-york is bigger than the whole of Russia; If Russia were to disappear, it would have the same effect to the world-wide economy and business in the world as if the whole ex-ussr block were to wipe out instead, so nothing of notice, not even close to the significance of a single western country ( maybe minus the southern europe)

What I mean in conclusion is these almost 3 decades now the only thing the ruling powers have done is honing the way to acquire personal funds (steal), and maintain a sense of "prosperity and pride" in the populace

that being said... Russia is not some innocent place. The russian mafia is very active in the US.
>>
I used to think this whole "control through confusion" thing was just a pants on head conspiracy theory fabricated in the west to explain away the inherent retardation of Russians, but now I'm starting to believe it myself.

Here's an example. During this anual "ask the president" thing when he descends from his Kremlin tower to appear before his worshippers he was asked about his grandson or granddaughter or whatever, and he replied that he doesn't comment on his relatives, apparently to protect them from unneeded "fame". It makes sense at first glance, but if you think about it, it's pretty much a given that his grandkids' friends and schoolmates know about the relation. The teachers certainly know. It takes just one guy to talk and then everyone knows. So basically everyone knows. You could say he's trying to protect them from opposition fanatics or CIA and whatnot, but surely those groups could easily find anyone if they ever set out to. Also with his insane approval rating, you'd think a true statesman would lend his relatives to the reverence of his people, which would further unite them, but no, he chooses not to.

Confusing.

The interview was incredibly interesting. I do think that a lot of Putin's responses seemed vague and there was definitely a lot left out on some of the more negative aspects in his career, but you can find the negative stuff everywhere, it's very rare to see the good he's done for Russia presented.

I wouldn't say I "like" Putin, but I do respect him as a competent ruler who seems to hold his own against the US hegemony while still maintaining fairly positive diplomatic relations with the rest of the world. He's certainly more rational, intelligent, and I think more reasonable than most western rulers. He is very skilled when it comes to geopolitical relations, and serves as an excellent foil to point out the United States's incredible hypocrisy on the world stage. For all the bad that post-USSR Russia has done, it still doesn't come close to the crimes that the US has committed and still commits. You know people have just swallowed MSM kool-aid and don't actually care to see the results of his actions when those people will only criticize him by calling him a bad person, a dictator, a murderer, etc. with no proof, but they will never actually criticize how he has governed over Russia and how Russia has improved since the collapse of the USSR.

Actually it is very hard to compare countries on income. In Russia all the income is disposable income, even income tax is paid by the employer and the when one negotiates the wage it is always after the tax is deducted. Utilities are cheap and subsidised for low-income families, gas price is same as in US, car taxes and insurance are much cheaper. So it is quite possible to live there on much less than, say, in WEurope. Add the gray economy which is supposed to be about 40% of the white one, and it is not that bad as it seems. Overall it is worse than in most of the EU and US, but still quite liveable.

Every "democracy" is pretty much a sham.

If they can't outright rig votes they change the constituency borders (gerrymander) to ensure they win. If that doesn't work they illegally funnel donor money into advertisements way past the funding limits via shell corporations and lobbyists in order to just slander their opposition so much they get into office. There's never a party that gets in and radically changes anything, it's the same old shit over and over with lobbyist corruption penetrating the very core of government as usual until we throw them out and replace with new corrupt status quo.

Democrats use it often, but the Soviets pioneered it.
Yes, it's always important to consider all sides of an issue. But it's a logical fallacy (Tu quoque) when you try to use it to completely discredit your opponent, like RT does.
Example: Let's stop talking about Russian invasion of Crimea, because hey didn't the Americans invade Iraq and that was terrible and let's condemn that! and now we're not even going to discuss whether Russia was in the right or not.

Now, personally, I think Russia was completely justified in taking Crimea. But a defense that relies solely on whataboutism is a weak defense.

yes, the US at the moment produces high end consumer goods, the kind that only wealthy consumers around the world could afford. so it is in the USes interest to create a ton of wealthy consumers to buy their shit, and the best way to do that is to spread inclusive institutions. and with such institutions individual well being rises.

russia on the otherhand mainly exports raw goods(i.e ore and natural gas), such products are not consumed by individual but by institutions, and the best way to get your moneys worth from them is to corrupt and divide them, for if you do that you can get a better deal and extract more out of them.

at this point that is how things are,

people are blind not to see this.
>>
>>130347356
This is literally the only context I ever see "whataboutism" used in. It's just an uncatchy, unfunny meme word (part and parcel for liberals it seems) which essentially means "criticism for thee, but not for me".

Since we're playing semantics, yes, most Germans, at least in the last free election, supported neither Hitler nor his party. In the last multi-party election, the Nazis had like 45% (if I'm remembering correctly). But the next biggest party, the Communists, had 18%, and then it went down from there. They had a commanding plurality of popularity that skyrocketed after Hitler consolidated control.

Only if you believe everyone is entitled to participate in a conversation, and that one's past deeds are insufficient to exclude one's interests from consideration, as you might in debate club, is deed-based exclusion of participants and their interests a problem.
It may be a fallacy, but that doesn't make it wrong because the world is not a debate club. Interests have no place in debate club, but they are the very substance of politics.

yes they do, but at least the jewish oligarchs have to pay credence to the US and at least pretend to fight corruption(which in itself fights corruption), as such there is hope that they would relinquish some of their monopoly power and allow for more investment which will bring a boost to the economy.

with the russians we had no such hope.
>>
>>130348287
You're not understanding what I'm saying.
I didn't invent the term "whataboutism." The Soviets did. It's a commonly used word in professional political discourse. I am calling it out as a logical fallacy and a bad debate tactic. Democrats use it all the time, Trump uses it all the time, Russia uses it all the time. It works when you're pandering to low-IQ people.
I'm not outright dismissing what RT says about America when it tries to deflect on Russian foreign or domestic policy, but the way in which they argue it is not useful or convincing.

>>
>>130347883
I don't like whataboutisms, but when the oppositions arguments rely on moral grandstanding it is a better defense than providing a solid justification or evidence based argument. I think RT's arguments do have a tendency to result in whataboutism, but it is in response to the kind of people that like to act like they are always the moral ones. Their arguments rely on them being moral, so the response is meant to show their own lack of morality. The plebs always respond most to that shit. RT targets the plebs, hence their practical use of whataboutism.

western poll source:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/207491/economic-problems-corruption-fail-dent-putin-image.aspx

first, your video is dated 2016, the presidential election was in 2012 with live webcam feeds of every voting station and OSCE monitors.

second, his approval rating was "only" 60% prior to the Crimea events, after the violent Ukraine coup and the Crimea stuff happened, Russians finally realized how much NATO and the west is against Russia. That skyrocketed Putin's approval rating.

I don't actually believe that these delusional people believe Putin is unpopular in Russia, they know he's popular, they just want to portray him as unpopular because they hate Russians and therefore the only way they could further delegitimize Russia and Russians is by claiming Putin is an evil tyrant who oppresses them, when the vast majority of people approve of him.

And for libshits who call him "far right", he is a liberal by Russia's standards. The day a true "far right" politician becomes president in Russia, liberals will be begging for Putin's return.
