Just got out of an 8 year relationship. 30 years old. Here is my insight on current women:

They are all teenagers. They spent their teens being pursued by an endless amount of males (the hot ones, but we don't care about the ugly ones nor does society) and they built part of their identity on feeling desired by people. Their social interaction is based on flirting and obtaining goods because of it. When they commit, they think that they are losing that part of their identity and don't know how to relate to other people. They eventually end their relationships one way or another to go back to the endless flirting without feeling guilty, but it gets a lot harder as they get older. The pool of people that were interested in them gets smaller as the men become attracted to younger women. When they reach their mid thirties they are alone and miserable.

My girlfriend was a smart woman to an extent. She knew that she felt unhappy about this and that it was retarded to cheat on me, so she proposed a open relationship. We did it for a while, I met a lot of incredible women who were desperate to get commitment from me and had a lot of fun. She struggled to find people because she had ridiculous standards and became jealous of the fact that I was doing better than her. Eventually she started becoming angry and tried to get into fights with me, I wouldn't take it, so she left.

I felt emotionally destroyed for a while, yes, but now I'm on no strings attached relationships with three different girls on their mid twenties and it helps a lot. I'm never going to commit to a girl again, they cannot handle their own emotions or desires.
