Socialism (that is basic moderate socialism what it used to mean) is in a bad way and the new left of the 70s and 80s left it that way.
Most of the so called socialist liberals are infact millionaires that only care about social liberalism to cover their own degenerate needs (mp's having orgies and dating dominatrixes).
Liberalism is not socialism and hyper partisan liberalism is not really liberalism at all, liberalism in theory should strike a reasonable balance with society since the 60s we have been under cultural attack as regular people.
When this replaced the struggle for basic rights of people in america and britain under socialism the voter base collapsed and still hasn't recovered.
It doesn't mean the left wing does not try to be accepting excepting to immigrants,gays and ethnic minorites except they now demand it and take away our rights for just being white straight working class males.
