This lasted over an hour until the made up that I was destroying evidence. The kicked in my door and lied that I tried to run away and resist. I spent a week in jail, lost job, had to withdraw from school pending everything, my siblings haven't spoken to me since, and I lost a lot of friends. I was pretty down at the time. Then, upon recieving discovery, I realised they had altered the conversation I had with the girl to make her look more innocent and me more guilty. They didn't realize I had backups to the conversations. All this is still playing out, but I am going to prevail and ultimately win big. Working factory jobs, although I've been doing it so long (over 10 years) that I usually get into a supervisory/lead hand position when I apply at these companies. Last one (they just laid off like 70% of the work force a couple months ago) I was making $24/hour as a supervisor, mostly just sat in an office entering processing information into Excel and occasionally doing rounds to check on things, assisting occasionally (for break/lunch relief etc) so it wasn't a bad gig.

Still though, for me the biggest shame is just not having a real profession. I went on a date a couple weeks ago with a cute girl, she was 22-23, in college, and we're making the usual small talk and obviously she's going to assume that me being a 30-something year old probably have my life together somewhat. When I tell her I work at a manufacturing factory she just looks (understandably) disinterested. Even worse when I take her to my apartment that I don't own and sees my completely average blue collar living area. I mean I still fucked her so i guess that's a win, but I could tell she had this sort of look like "he's alright but I want a lot better than this" kind of thing. Needless to say I haven't heard back from her, on to the next I guess.

That's my real motivation for trying to better myself at this late point in life is to have something to be proud in, to try and eventually become a professional or at least have a career I can talk about without feeling pathetic.

It does suck though, I consider myself a reasonably intelligent guy, and am kind of a jack of all trades. I mean I can fix almost anything on a car, anything on a computer (hardware or software), I can program at a basic level, create a passable website, I can cook, I keep my house clean, I read books, I have outdoor hobbies like kayaking, fishing, hiking, I go to the gym, I play sports, etc, and yet it's not enough to feel prideful.
