have you been to a mcdonalds or tim horton's in canada recently? they have one cashier for the tech inept and they're pushing everyone with any skills to a mobile app or kiosk where you order your items and then pay for them. self checkout and minimizing human interaction is even bigger than it is in the states.

machines will work overtime for free, never get sick, never make a mistake beyond what they're programmed to do. minimum wage jobs will be ruled out economically versus machines, and then humans will be screwed. it's a long term eventual trend but hiking the minimum wage only accelerates the problem.

to survive? fix the machines.

Min wage goes up > rents go up > less chance for people with jobs to get full time hours because with increased wages most companies DEFINITELY wont want to pay the benefits full timers are entitled to. Sounds fuck awful
