Why are nowadays so many young people still living at home /pol/?

>For the first time in modern history, more 18-to-34-year-olds live with their parents than in any other living arrangement, according to a Pew Research Center report released Tuesday.
>In 2014, nearly one-third of young adults lived in their parents’ home, a bigger group than those living with a spouse or romantic partner, living alone or with roommates, or living as single parents.
>While millennials moving back with their parents have been the butt of jokes and hand-wringing for several years, and the recession of 2009 played a part in their doing so, this shift spans more than one generation. It has been decades in the making, a result of deep-rooted societal transformations in education, work and family building.

Industrialization and tech advances created a boom that was unsustainable. Before the start of "modern" history, it wasn't unusual to have 2 or 3 generations living under the same roof. Not to mention that the cost of a house is ridiculous right now, and 18-34 year olds are struggling to find work as it is. Especially now that getting "properly educated" might lead someone to be in school until they are in their mid-to-late 20s. Not surprising.

Because we were robbed of everything that made life worth living.

I personally don't give a shit anymore and the sooner WW3 starts the better. No joke.

Economy sucks! When my dad was my age, he was able to rent a decent sized apartment with a job at the local supermarket. I can't get shit with the same job today.

My parents have a 3000sqft house, and I am able to have my own bathroom, parking spot, and of course room, and they generally leave me be, if I do some things around the house.

I'm lucky that we get along well.
>>
>>130072757

Because the generation bought into the 'special snoflake' and college meme.

They should have gone to trade school (they make bank) or picked a real major that would get them a job. They were coddled all their life, and all through school, and they grew up thinking they were special and that they deserved everything.
>>
>>130080053
I'm in a very similar spot, I have a very comfy one room apartment in the house I live with my parents and whatever basic income job I can get would just lead to me living paychecks to paychecks.

Good parents are golden. I'll never be able to repay them in my lifetime.
>>

Bor and raised in the USA. I'm 31 years old and still live at home. Rent is outrageous to the point of living on my own is not worth it. The only reason I'd want to live out of my parent's house is to have a place where I could privately have sex with women. Other than that, I got it made. I give my parents a few hundred bucks a month and that's about it. The days of being considered a loser for living with your parents are over. Nobody cares about that so much.

because they can. Mommy and daddy will let them live at home and keep doing their laundry and not make them work. So they won't bother

They are literally the embodiment of the welfare queens they autistically screech about on here all day. Except, you know, in the US 50% of people on welfare still have jobs and have measurably shitty lives while the average NEET 4chan poster has never felt pain aside from that of his own mediocrity and existential atrophy
>>
>>130072757
Housing is unaffordable, in large part because of the house-flipping meme.
>>
I found out last week that my dad didn't move out until he was 30 and it was honestly a massive relief. I've still got 4 years before he can legitimately start giving me shit.
>>
>>130081465
Wrong. I promise you, you are seen as a loser, a man struggling on his own is more respectable that a grown man who never left the parental teat

And women REALLY dont respect it. Struggle is good for you. Embrace it. Grow from it.
>>
>>130082052
I'd love to move out. I work 50 hours a week and still can't afford to live in an apartment, much less a house.

During the 2008 recession, people stopped building houses and apartment buildings. We are only in the early days of people starting to build again, and we're already deep into the next bubble.

The boomer meme of house flipping has obliterated the market for affordable fixer-upper homes. Much in the same way as "cash for clunkers" destroyed the market for cheap cars.
>>
I could afford to live in some dump, rather than with my parents, but I'd rather not risk having my head blown off over the aux cable in my honda civic

i could afford to live in a cramped studio apartment with cockroaches rimming my asshole with their feet while i try sleep through some histronic bitch wailing about her gall bladder or i could just stay with mom and dad in the middle of fucking nowhere, where its quiet and nobody gives a fuck about anything.
>>

>>
>>130082052
How many people under the age of 30 that you personally know who live on their own with no roommates, let alone own a house? How many?

Unless someone lives in a hick town working at Walmart and living in a trailer, there is no way anyone 30 years old or younger in the US can afford to live comfortably on their own, save money for retirement, etc.. The only way is if you have a job that pays 100K+, and how many of those are offered to people in their 20's?
>>
23 and still living with parents while I get a degree in a field that not only won't want me with as is, but also makes me fucking miserable. Only a year left if I can keep from killing myself and hopefully there will be some tech job worth my time. It's nice since they never complain and I try to stay out of their way, but the constant feeling of being a leech while my friends have moved on is horrible.

To top it all off, living with my parents is killing my already low self-esteem.
I really should've taken up a trade out of highschool, but I've already made a pact with the jew overlords for most of these loans.

That's where you're wrong. Good parents let you stay at home but you still need to pull your weight. You pay bills you take care of the house and work your ass off to try and save money. Good parents are indeed golden because the majority of parents are shit and would throw their own children out. And all that does is produce bitter wage cucks.

The only people in my family who own property are my uncles and they lived at home til they were almost 30. My parent left home at 18, raised three kids, and don't own shit. But they're great parents and all three of their children are happy so either way works.

Ive brought women home lots. Most dont say anything about my spartan lifestyle, the ones that do are intrigued not turned off, i simply explain that im pushing for a dream, all else is just in the way. Chicks seem to dig that attitude.

If you got a good Job then good for you! That doesn't change the fact that the majority of people can't live off the wages offered by the majority of jobs available.
>>
>>130083506
Two, out of how many others?

My point is, these days rent is outrageous and level-entry jobs don't pay well. That causes 18-34 year olds to live with their parents, and it will get more common every year.

Women liberation. They are just riding the dock carasoul and falling for the professional meme so they won't get married till late 20s. If there is any takeaway from this thread its this. Ive been in that viscious circle of dependance on parents that causes severe depression.

Most millennials who aren't even in debt and who are trying to save are fighting inflation. Your dollar's purchasing power today is worth less than it will tomorrow. Exactly the baby boom, the cheap housing, the high amount of shovel ready jobs. A family could find work, a house, and raise a family on a single income. Now you need two incomes to even afford anything, that's if you can find a job in first place.

Between outsourcing, illegals, baby boomers not retiring, & recession. There's not much for folks.

Wrong again my friend. Plenty of my friends are still living at home with their folks, some are even married. My wife lives in a small 1 bedroom place just up the street from me and I have the basement of my parents house, it's the best deal ever.
>Fancy Kitchen to use
>Negotiatable benefits / cost
>Payment leniency
>Get to inherit the house afterwards

The only people's opinions who matter are your own, your family's, your significant other and your closest friends. If you have all those bases covered and you live at home, there's no reason to feel ashamed.

>I would love for an upturn in the economy though so I could sell my parents place and buy a nice little townhouse + put the rest in savings.

So yeah sure, let me be a good goy and move out of my parents place to pay some rich jew to fuck me over in rent prices, while the accumulation of his work is to drive to the bank and cash the checks. Sounds like freedom to me, you fucking faggot.

We already had the crash and they threw bales of free money at it to bail themselves out. We need both a crash and the courage to accept prices the market can bear.

It's more than that. In the 50's and 60's you could afford a house working a shit job in a factory while your wife stayed at home. Good luck doing that now.

The crash is going to just fucking destroy everything next time. For fuck's sake, why can't people understand bailouts don't fucking work? I fucking hate state capitalism and I hate boomers. No your houses shouldn't keep increasing in price indefinitely, you stupid fucks.

Obviously they can't keep doing this, can they? At some point they have to run out of other people's money to spend, and house prices will have to become so inflated that they MUST FALL to meet supply and demand.

>>130094338
For most of history people didn't move out of their parent's house. In most other cultures it is natural to this day. This "YOU MUST MOVE OUT" shit was invented by boomers who have had the most privileged existence spending their children's future money.

Jesus fuck I hate /pol/ sometimes.

that's a great point. How are manbabies who mommy and daddy care for into their 30's and beyond going to take care of their own parents when they become too old? It's wise to live at home if you are working towards your future. It's unwise to tie yourself up in paying rent when you can contribute to your own family instead. It's stupid to tie yourself to buying a house as a single person in most cases because the workforce must be mobile.

Younger people not buying shit they don't need is a great idea. My parents were born just before the Great Depression and very thrifty despite my father making good money. Why shouldn't younger generations do the smart thing? I paid rent to my parents before I moved out at 21. It was a great deal.

I followed other "Greatest Generation" (they weren't and didn't call themselves that!) examples. bought my house early but chose an inexpensive home on six acres because I could renovate a home for very little compared to paying someone else for a finished product. I paid it off early.

Be thrifty and efficient. Buy quality, not memes, and know the fucking difference. Learn to love working on everything you own. Reduced dependence on others is fucking exhilarating. Fiercely attack learning new skills as long as you live. Never stop.

Do anything and move anywhere to make money. Life is a shit sandwich so the more bread you have the less shit you taste. Follow your dreams only if they are profitable and enhance your security and comfort. Otherwise, your dreams are stupid.

>>
>>130072757
This is not a new trend, it's a correction. People used to live with their parents, assisted in the family occupation, and gradually took over the elder generation's role in the community (picking up the slack). Generation after generation would inhabit a house, work a plot of land. That's the normal way of life, save when disrupted by war or social upheaval. They didn't call it the Industrial Revolution for nothing, it changed the things as much as any war could have.

>Much in the same way as "cash for clunkers" destroyed the market for cheap cars.

Except it basically didn't and CFC was a long time ago so there's no effect today. I worked auto auctions including many CFC vehicles. Most of what went to salvage (and made some nice organ donors) were shit, not worthwhile vehicles. New car prices generally increase at a rate greater than inflation which drives used car prices upwards.

The reason there aren't many 500 dollar cars any more is 500 bucks is nothing.

CFC was nice for salvage yards which keep many older vehicles on the road. Smart salvagers skinned clunkers out then crushed the hulks before the deadline.

Keep in mind most salvage yards crush everything over ten years old anyway when they hit the magic "hundred car" mark or better. Then they call in portable crushers if they don't own one and sell most of their stock to the scrappers. Holding old vehicles long term is a specialist thing because yard space exists to make money.

Agrarian masterrace reporting in.
Feels so good to live in a family house. My family has lived with each other in the same house since 1840. Every generation of kids have been raised by their grandparents while mom and dad went to work. It's a really comfy system. You should really think about it. You never get lonely and you get to hear Grandpa's stories about beating niggers with a black snake whip.

It's not all that bad.

When I graduated, most of my friends and I lived at home to save money/because our parents didn't have money to pay for college/didn't bother to tell us about student loans for college.

However, one of our classmates (the class pariah/misfit that everyone picked on) DID do the whole "take out student loans to live on campus" thing.

Guy's a half a million dollars in debt to student loans/moderately decent job and rental property he lives in and shit but he repeatedly told us that it was the best decision of his life, due to growing up in a multi-generational home out in the styx, a single mother who was absurdly clingy towards "sheltering" him (wouldn't let him hang out with other kids or do sports/clubs) and elderly grandparents who spoiled their other child's rather obnoxious bastard, who they agreed to raise in order to let said son marry another woman and have a family with her.

He said that getting the hell out of that stifling environment saved him from putting a bullet in his head due to how hellish his home life was.

I'd have to move about two hours away to either Sacramento of San Jose to live in a decent place with a reasonable price. Everyone knows why
Under the Lima Declaration, they gave most manufacturing and jobs to asia
Young people couldn't find work
No money to rent or buy
Living at home with parents
Multiple generations of Westerners sacrificed to trade agreements
Only ones getting rich are Western rich people who make obscene profits by making products in asia and selling them to first world
Asians earning money thanks to trade agreements now buying swathes of Western property
In other words (((they))) shifted the world's wealth
Elevated Asians and destroyed Westerners
We all know
