To elaborate, it says probably... Here is an excert from NYT, 2001:

So we know that China has been putting islamists in camps near the city for over a decade, that surely must have affected the demographics.

Also islamic terror is very common in China. More so than you would think. Last time i visited China 8 Americans were stabbed and killed by islamic men and women on a train station with kitchen knives.
