Imagine original segregation as a line painted on the ground between races. Eventually that line was stripped of it's authority and over time it became faded, worn out and pretty much ignored by 99% of the population who freely walked across it as if it weren't even there.

Then along came the new hard, hardline liberals and SJWs. They saw that terribly worn and faded line and screeched in indignantly that such a thing could exist, oh just imagine how it was making the non-whites feel, they must be offended, devastated, marginalized and downtrodden by such a line! Clearly it was to blame for all the woes within the African American and other minority communities of America and yes, even the global stage.

So they ripped it up, they tore at the earth and brought in heavy machinery to utterly obliterate all traces of that faded old line from the face of the earth. Complaints from the white side were ignored because they were clearly racist nazis who used the line to better themselves. Complaints from the black side were ignored because they had obviously been brainwashed into ignoring how badly the line was affecting their daily lives.

And now instead of an old faded bit of paint on the cement we have this massive torn up furrow in the earth separating the races. A nearly impassable trench laden with deadly obstacles and unseen pitfalls. But there is no more line, the liberals and SJWs will proudly tell you as they stand around, smugly self-assured that they have changed things for the better.

In Europes case, I think 10-15 years ago people were under the assumption that living in a multicultural society would just entail living with some brown people.
Now they are coming to the realization that the brown people will make up a significant portion of their country changing the fabric of society and it's traditional structures. Multiculturalism is going through it's sudden realization stage. People are starting to get agitated, this isn't what they signed up for.

In America's case I think that race was never dealt with, racial tensions are huge in the US because a whole race was property once. without a big group therapy session America has been left to deal with racial problems the only way it could suppression and platitudes, America decided that segregation was bad and that black should at least appear to be given the same rights as whites so America preached the gospel of equality to children and everyone alike,"racism is bad" "don't kick black people" among other shallow platitudes served only as a place holder for racial unrest, these shallow attempts did not serve to solve the problem except in a very superficial way so low-and-behold there comes a time where racism needs to be revisited, people both liberal and conservative are expressing this in different ways. Some people still feel racist and are kind of tired of people telling them not to be, just for the sake of not being something "bad". Black people still feel as though their life is defined by there race, and are aware a great tension lie behind the cliches and prepared lines society tells them to ensure them they live in an friendly tolerant society.

People, black and white, feel constricted by a society that is very bad at talking about race.
