Live in a comfy town in the south. Not a huge house, 2700' Sq. 1/2 acre lot. 1960's. Whole neighborhood is similar. Hunting, fishing, shooting, mountains, huge lake 15 min away. Never go to a city because we have most everything here. Really sucks, huh?

It's just really isolated and economically depressed.

The thing about towns and cities in America is that the majority live outside of them and then commute into town for work. This is why American cities are almost entirely commercial and barely residential because everybody is in the suburbs. In smaller towns this is also the case with people owning houses sparsely around the commercial main street instead of being huddled together like villages are in Europe. It has to do with Europeans being ok with living on small plots of land/ living in apartments while the vast majority of Americans pursue as much land as they can own. You won't see any stylish buildings in small american towns because there is no point. People will buy your shit if you are the only type of that store in town.
