It is general Arabic arrogance and overestimation of own ability of stupid people.

It also may be intentional. Smug woman paired with the hijab will appeal to feminists and leftists watching as a 'liberated woman.'

Taking a submissive stance in a debate is also a sure way to lose, so they come our hard. In home life they have to suppress their will, so any outlet they have for that power is going to get it full force (tyranny of petty officials).
