Read Hunter. It gets more into the deep stuff.

Although Pierce's apparent hatred of Christianity tends to show in Hunter. It seems like Pierce's only exposure to Christianity was the televangelists you pick up on antenna TV channels. Which if that's ones only exposure, I can understand why one might hate it.
