Gold's a meme. Why is it so glorified when it's just some shitty metal? Because it's not an abundant resource? Stupid.

Besides, Rothschild's have the most gold. So enjoy the possible scenario of the dollar collapsing, the bankers switching to gold and distributing it to governments to put us back into the same debt based currency all over again.

Gold is vastly underpriced actually. There are at least 3 months in the year where the amount of gold purchase by just China, Russia and India exceeds all global production; and this has been happening for a number of years now. That's just one factor, there are a whole plethora of reasons as to why Gold should be priced much higher including massive global QE programs (essentially just currency creation), record low interest rates across much of the global economy, very high geopolitical risk levels and much more.
>>
>>129477769
not this time anon, not this time
>>
>>129477866
The physical rhodium market is ridiculously thin. That's like if you want something for shits and giggles.

Investing in mining operations, though, is a pretty legit way to add a lot of leverage to a PM portfolio if you make good picks.
>>
>>129477866

http://www.silverinstitute.org/site/supply-demand/

Silver is a better investment. Not only is it represent smaller increments of value (thus will be used more as money when the financial system collapses), but supply/production is not even keeping up with current demand, meaning it's scarcity (and therefore value) will continue to increase, especially in the event of collapse.

No I mean like shares in mining corporations.

But be forewarned that it's a bit of an uncertain market, and you'd want to know a thing or two about the mining industry if you're going to be choosing mining operations on your own. If you're a pleb, you're probably best off leaning on mutual funds and lettings the professionals slowly rip you off for the most part.

More importantly, what is it you should buy? You mentioned something like money enough for only a few gold coins. I don't know if you mean 1oz coins or smaller. So, how to not be dumb as a noob:

1. If you have enough money to buy multiple 1oz gold coins, then think about spending an equal dollar amount on gold and on silver, or 60/40, 70/30, or whatever because you can always change later on.
2. Never give a shit about names, dates, rarity, etc. because you're not a coin collector. You want the most metal for the least money, and to get something that everybody will trust and recognize at sale time.
3. Silver: As an American, start with 90% "junk silver" dimes, quarters, nickels, halves. Now you can spend very small amounts of silver rather than having to liquidate everything at once.
4. Silver: 1oz American Silver Eagles, 1oz Canadian Silver Maple. Everybody knows what they are, nobody is going to bother making fakes. You can add in 1/2oz rounds or whatever later, but this is where you start.
5. Gold: 1/20oz to 1oz American Gold Eagles or Canadian Gold Maples. Here again, recognition, no counterfeiting.
6. Gold: British Sovereigns. They're about 1/5oz and recognized and accepted around the world.

In any kind of a situation where you have to make fire with stones, you'd rather have a lighter. They're cheap and you can store them in ziplock bags to prevent water damage. If you went hiking or camping, would you bring a lighter with you? Of course you would. There will always be demand.

You know you have an honest broker when they're making money on the buy/sell spread and it's 3% or less under normal conditions. That's just the name of the game, kind of like how it costs me gas and wear and tear and the risk of an accident when I want to fill my gas tank.

The risk of stocks is a crash. Balance your risk. If you think maybe just 5% of your portfolio should be silver and gold that's fine. I'm about 20% into blue chips, waiting for a decent correction to increase that position.

This guy gets it.

Real unsuppressed value of gold is proably from 6-12k per ounce. Gold has stayed essentially the same price for a long time, whic is not natural. There's a whole bunch of market manipulation going on, everyone knows it, but nobody is going to stop the musical chairs.

Up until recently, silver was not scrutinized as much and more closely tracked its real value. But now we are seeing more people move to silver and the same market manipulations being done.Every time the price inches up, a fucking huge order comes through and the price reverts.

Also, when buying gold, if you don't physically have it in your own possession, it *does not exist*.All those people that think they own gold and even pay a storage fee - what will they do when they realize it never existed in the first place? They try to take delivery and it virtually never happens.

The 1/10oz gold coins have a pretty hefty premium when you look at the numbers. I bought a whole bunch of them back in the day and they make great gifts for kids when everybody else is giving a bond or some other paper donation -- at least it violates the fear of physical.

But if I had to engage in any kind of real trade at the level of a 1/10oz of gold I'd wonder why am I not using silver instead.

Its best to have a split of both.

Silver is ideal for small transactions, it will likely become more useful as confidence in the dollar drops and governments crack down on ponzi coins

You've probably seen them, but they have these cards of gold where you can break them apart into individual grams or something like that. It's a neat idea. It's just that if you have any significant amount of wealth to store, then you're going to store most of it in relevant denominations.

It's kind of like the copper people. Obviously copper is valuable. A former friend of mine went to prison because he was stealing it to feed a heroin addiction. A bucket of extra plumbing bits is as valuable as selling my entire car for steel at the scrap yard.

But the tiny bits of gold I think are mainly a way to try to make money off of a particular market segment that maybe shouldn't be focusing on gold.

I don't really have much money in the first place, only $10,000 in the bank. So its not much to invest in and protect wealth anyway. But I did buy 20 1 oz silver rounds on Ebay a while back, and I do have some sterling silver jewelry and candle sticks that I find at garage sales.

I do think the USD will stop being the world reserve currency within my lifetime. China and Russia are building the One Belt, One Road coalition, and I do think they will come out with their own currency which will topple the USD as the World Reserve Currency.

When that happens, the US will experience hyper-inflation as all the dollars overseas come back to flood the market, and the US will just keep printing money to cover its debts and unfunded liabilities.

BRICS didn't really go anywhere, but the infrastructure developments in and around the silk path are for suer something to watch out for. If currency collapses, trade, infrastructure, and industry will be the kinds of things that lead to the restoration of power.

They actually ended that. We wouldn't have American Gold Eagles if they didn't.

kek, matter is if you had a brain you could have actually doubled your savings instead of hoping your shiny rocks will magically soar in value. Sour grapes.

Friendly reminder that we are in the "delusion" phase of cyrpto-currencies. (hence the basically infinite amount of "invest now" videos and articles being shilled.)
AKA the,
>I'm gonna make a 100% return a month, and be a millionaire in 3 years!
logic.

One of the very first principles of smart investing, is to NEVER invest due to emotion. And if you are going on about how you make 1000% return in 6 months, you are driven COMPLETELY by emotion. There is nothing tangible with any of these cyrpto-currencies that put it anywhere except a pyramid scheme.

Gold did the same thing in the 1980s, and has never returned to its peak, as everything in the long run returns to the mean.

If you think you will ever need gold, you better buy lighters, batteries, bottled water, and propane instead.
