But guns aren't to blame necessarily, (I actually want a gun, and am not against the 2nd amendment, provided minorities benefit from it as much as white people).

I went to a private school from ages 6 to 12 and there was never any security guard. When I was in public school from 12-13 I don't think I ever saw one. I only saw an armed guard when I entered High School in 2007, and even then it was just one fat cop with a glock. My HS had over 500 kids in our graduating class so If someone went nuts and came to school with a gun I don't know if he would've done much good.

I guess it speaks to how rare actual school shootings are if parents and teachers are content with that. I guess everyone thinks it won't happen to them until it does, but school shootings are actually pretty rare statistically.

I guess, I think kids that really act out and shit end up getting the help they need. Either from parents or counselors at the school, they are picked out by some authority figure and talked to. Especially since Columbine I think a lot more people are receptive to the warning signs and people know what to do and how to deal with this kind of thing. Still, it does happen that some kids fall through the cracks. Either their parents don't notice or don't care what their kids are doing, and teachers or other adults in schools don't notice in time or don't realize what's going on.

I don't really think about it I guess. The kind of person to go through the trouble of getting a concealed carry permit generally isn't the type to whip it out and gun you down. As far as being caught in a mass shooting, I guess it does cross my mind now and then when I'm out in public, but I recognize they're rare events and the chance of it happening to me are small. The benefits I think we receive as a country with relatively loose gun laws and self defense laws far outweighs the negatives in my opinion. The weirdo I'm talking to might have a gun, sure, but he might also have a knife and could kill me just as quickly. I can't just live in fear because I can imagine horrible things happening.
