Has anyone actually tried the self authoring program? My life has gone to shit, and what Jordan Peterson talks about sounds like what's happening with me. I just want to know if it helped anyone, or should I just eat a bullet? Will describe my story if you want to make fun of me or whateverhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoGdMpdZXzs
>>
I finally started watching this guy last night and he spoke a lot of (hurtful) truths that made me a bit more introspective for the better. I'd recommend it

got it when it was free, future authoring anyway. Would do again, really focuses on trying to make you sort out what you want to be and what you don't want to be. Even if you think you know you don't really accept it until you write down these thoughts. It just makes everything more real and the guiding questions really help get what you're really thinking in writing. Don't enter it thinking it'll change your life but just with an open mind

Let's hear your story OP
>>
I'm an electrician and I've always hated it. I've been one for 10 years.
I like the work and all, but I've just had horrible experiences with old asshole coworkers. From when I was a first year apprentice, I always tried to do a great job, but I was slow to catch on. So pretty much I was screamed at and degraded for being to slow and not good at my job. I developed work anxiety.
I know what I'm doing alot more now, but I still have problems. I can't deal with confrontation still.. I will overthink simple things and still fuck up. It's like I become a character at work and I automatically become an actor in a role, if that makes sense.
I'm probably of normal intelligence, and never have these problems outside of work.
I just quit my job and haven't been able to get off the couch for the last 2 days.

Thanks for reading my blog. If you think it can help, please let me know.
>>
>>129231065
You need to go deeper.

What was your dad like, was your Mom hot?
>>
>>129231065
I don't have these anxiety problems if I do work for myself or my friends.

I know you're just dicking around, but my dad was very hardworking but could be a dick.

I'm pretty sure my mom was hot in her day.
>>
I am willing to hear you out if you can sponsor a marriage visa. Hell, I'll even include amateur coaching sessions and a dieting/exercise program if you're really willing to do it.
>>
Haven't done the self authoring stuff, but after hours upon hours of Peterson videos I have regained my life. He has given me the tools to find a path in my life and I have used them to raise myself from years of depression and failure into a new man.
>>
>>129230574
Worth 15 dollars or whatever they're charging for not now?
Or could you just be a bro and write down the instructions
>>
>>129231065
Also, I'm old (34), single, no kids. I recently started to regret my life since I was a shitty liberal alcoholic until a few years ago. I alway said I didn't want to get married of have kids, and of course I regret it now.

Peterson talks about not having responsibilities as a man is a road to self destruction.

For all you younger guys: Marry the first non-slut you can find! Have Kids! Do not wait!
Because eventually, the only ones that are leftover are all sluts.
>>
>>129230017
After listening to Jordan Peterson I got a girlfriend and my room is clean as fuck. Guaranteed cleaner than yours.
>>
>>129232265
I almost want to recommend you to marry a girl who's in her 20's, but let's be real here: at that age pretty much any woman is a slut. Then when they are in their 30's they slowly start to realize that their looks are fading so they'll marry the first rich beta guy they can find so that they can live comfortably for the rest of their lives, and if it doesn' work out with this one beta they'll simply divorce and get even more money.
>>
>>129233622
Not all 20 somethings are sluts

The ones that aren't might just not be the prettiest girls on the block. But why would you want to marry the prettiest girl? She has miles of dick thrown at her every day and likely to cheat.

This is frankly the best advice I've ever read on 4chan. I almost lost my virgin gf/fiancée because I was too afraid to plan a family and assume responsibility for both my life and the life of my future children. Happy she was loyal. Getting married soon.

Life has been a blast these past few years. Not because it was all sunshine and dandies, but because I finally know that there are things worth fighting for, but it took a good old-fashioned, virtuous lioness of a woman to snap me out of my blackpilled status.

That anxiety can be a valuable asset in the workplace. Think about it critically for a second.
It pushes you to do a good job in a way that cannot be ignored. Don't let the fear and anxiety consume you, or place you in the rut.
If only you could realize that anxiety isn't all that bad(until it cripples you, like it's doing now).
>>
A bit unconventional advice:do DMT once. It is known to change your personality permanently and raise your creativity by two standard deviations. Even peterson himself admits this and is fascinated by this

I'm going to keep this page open so I can read all the comments later, but I should try to get off the couch and go walk around outside for a while.

As corny as it sounds, thanks for listening and for all the advice. I'm in a really dark place, and it's crazy to think that the only place that gives me hope is dubbed a "white supremacist" website by the media as I get bantz and wisdom from people all over the world.

I will do the self authoring program and will make a thread if it makes a difference.

Thanks guys.

Well, OP's personality seems like that of a chronically under-the-weather type of person. The kind that is a strict pessimist. DMT can make things better for him. It is known to make permanent changes to the users personality. It's a gamble i'd be willing to bet on, if I was in OP's shoes. Bonus point is that, it is not addictive.

No, do your research. Prozac is just an antidepressant. It'll make you mentally weaker(as you are not facing the chaos and are not fighting the memories that are causing you to be depressed) and can also lead to psychological dependency. Also, DMT doesn't make you retarded.
>>
>>129244653

Start with both his appearances on JRE, that will give you a great foundation of what he's about. Then, I think it be best if you just watch some of the short snippets people upload from longer talks according to your interests.

By this point, you're most likely interested in the deeper details of what he talks about so you can take up the 2017 Maps of Meaning series. From here, you'll understand the philosophy well enough to navigate where you want to through his other series.

You could also have been a feminist that thought shit like the patriarchy was real until you hit 28 and realize that you are deeply, deeply unhappy, end up developing some case of functional alcoholism and only slowly claw out of your personal hell realizing you've wasted your youth being mad at men, and your father, rather than take responsibility for making something of your life. Then realize at 30 years of age that you've dun goofed and try to steer your life around as best as you can, loosing more or less every friend in the process because women will just rebuke you for not thinking the same as they do.

at what, the guy is telling the truth

A lot of women are raised with the idea that they are exceptional for some reason and that normal things like "you'll grow up to want children some day" does not apply to them. However a lot of women (you could say people) are not exceptional.

What really helped is the explanation of the female archetype. The male story is killing the dragon and the female story is taming the beast. Put that way it makes a lot more sense than talking in alfa and beta males. What you need is for the guy to have some force, or capacity to be scary and respected. Doesn't mean he needs to buff up in the gym, someone with a sharp and deadly mind can be good too. But that explained a lot for me as far as choosing my boyfriends went.

Here's a bit of advice.
https://youtu.be/_t2JhmDV2Ow
>>
I have been doing the Self-Authoring Suite now for 4 months. I've estimated I've written almost 200,000 words using it.
The past authoring is intense, you set your life into 6 epochs, then each epoch is dived down into 6 experiences, each with a 3000-word limit. That is just the first half. I thought I would whiz through this, but instead the floodgates opened, I easily went over 3000 words each "event", I simply couldn't stop myself from writing. I knew it was important, I didn't know precisely what was happening to me, I just felt better, especially in my therapy sessions.
Half way through the Suite ( I do this on my off time at work) I was asked by my boss to organize a large book library after we remodeled..standing there putting a thousand books in alphabetical order it dawned on me, this is what the program is doing, it's helping you put your mind, your past in order, it helps you connect events that were as before hand they were isolated, fragmented. this was a revelation. In conjunction with a good therapist ( I go to the C.G. Jung Institute in my city), this has helped me tremendously.

>>129252101
I'm actually very grateful to him. I was redpilled about the female nature before I discovered Peterson, and I have fairly decent self-control, having grown up in a Christian home. But his analyses of women are spectacular, and it's helped me make sense of parts of myself that seem contrary to logic and rational thought. His speech on women in high-paying positions was also fantastic. I also second this >>129252626

Yes, that's exactly right you are crystalizing things you have not dared to face. The things in your past haunt you because you haven't quite figured out what happened and why. When you articulate the events, you map it for yourself and you at least know where you stand. Then maybe you know how to avoid such things in the future.

Yes, and I've also begun to go to psychotherapy when Peterson called that the best money he ever spent. He's right. I'm more than doubly efficient and will have much more time and energy subverting marxism and jews.

other than it being a good opportunity with Jordan Peterson in the spotlight?

People tend to be more motivated to participate in things if they had to pay for it.

The college i graduated from would charge $5 for dance tickets not to make money, but because they found it actually *increased* attendance. People didn't want to waste the $5.

What you are describing is your persona. Your public image, figure out what the opposite of that image is, the worst you can think of. That is your shadow and it holds not only a warning but also somethings you need.

If you are meek and timid, you shadows worst trait would be destruction, violence and aggressiveness. These traits also hold what you need, teeth and guts. Next step is to figure out a way to accept the shadow in such a way it does not overtake you or you will become this worst possible entity that you are aware of.

To be good, you must now evil and choose not to do it. If you never known evil you are not capable of being good.

I really tried. All all the ones I would have a shred of believe they are marrying material are now, 10 years later, mostly single mothers and half of them are on the path of super regression. As soon the reality kicks in that you have to care for kids and want some sort of middle class life, many get their plays out of the witches handbook. One girl I dodged the bullet was a full hard balled leftist with purple color hair on the left side. Absolutely fun, lots of heated discussions (women would say foreplay) and such. And now, holier than the pope, everything is going to the shitters and their opinion breaks every truth. Can't stand one of them.

Last good woman I met was to good to be true. But she lived in East Europe and I won't move there, and she had like 100 people family there.

Thank God for the rain which has helped wash the garbage and trash off the sidewalks. I’m working a single now, which means stretch-shifts, six to six, sometimes six to eight in the a.m., six days a week. It’s a hustle, but it keeps me busy. I can take in three to three-fifty a week, more with skims. I work the whole city, up, down, don’t make no difference to me – does to some. Some won’t take spooks – Hell, don’t make no difference to me. They’re all animals anyway. All the animals come out at night: Whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.

I have a tumblr where I post my thoughts, insights etc. once in a while along with music and art. I often go back and look at it as if it were a diary. It's interesting to see where your mindset was at a certain point in your life. I keep it organized with tags so I can quickly look up what I've written about various topics.

Also, it goes without saying that the tumblr community as a whole is cancer, but there's no obligation to interact with anyone. The website itself is pretty good as far as functionality goes.

Same, I still am an atheist, but I'm thinking of referring to myself as a 'literalistic atheist', in that i don't believe there's some otherworldly supernatural force out there, but I do believe in the metaphysics of human consensus building, storytelling, myth-making and how the large basic experiences of the human condition ultimately amalgamate into 'gods' as such (lust for violence felt by everyone is the god of war, for example).

Eventually the world looked at paganism and said "no more looking at these individual sections of your brains, you have one god that is all of these combined (your whole brain, not your individual proto-personalities)" which made us focused, but limited our understanding of ourselves, which we see now with this new strange resurgence of paganism, with Kek being the first to be refracted from the white light of the single god.

I've read The Denial of Death multiple times and ultimately Joseph Campbell preaches nihilism. That's what attracted me to JBP, he gets at the issues Campbell addresses but has a more human, rational, and empowering message. Read Campbell and stop there and you'll quickly find yourself believing that life actually has no meaning.
>>
>>129275727
I don't think it's necessary. Cleaning your room (in the literal sense) puts you in a mindset of correcting things, or sorting things out so to speak. The idea is that putting yourself in the mindset will lead to you "cleaning your room" in the metaphorical sense, and you'll begin sorting out other things in your life.
>>
I'm currently doing 1 Hour each day in an attempt to train that brain muscle that is so underdeveloped which I need to slay my big dragons. Small dragons for now as training.
I used to do nothing for at least 5 years and could even argue my whole life, 25 years.

Question is, would JBP approach it the same way? I havnt gotten through all lectures yet and it's all very abstract which is nice, but not really hands on for depression, except clean your room. But I could in theory clean my room 24/7 if I'd argue I'm only stopping causae I'm lazy and evil instead of argueing I can't clean my room 24/7 cause my muscle endurance isnt good enough for that.
>>
>>129279356
Buddhist monks can spend decades sweeping the ground. Keep cleaning your room until you are able to abstract out the meaning of "sorting yourself out" and begin to apply it to other things.
>>
>>129279587
I just don't know if me saying I need to train on Small dragons first before slaying the big ones, is just an excuse to not handle the big ones.
Then again, it seems like I'm only willing to do the small dragons anyway so why even try to force myself and fail. I have no choice but to do the small ones and hope it will lead me to the bigger ones eventually.

I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, but I feel like if I'm still breathing I can still bite off more. I would have to die for me to realize I've biten off too much.
>>
>>129280324
Buddish monks don't just sweep to keep the ground clean. The practice of sweeping has little to do with the very necessary task of keeping shit clean, rather it is meant to let the monk learn that every moment, every single moment, is different.
>>
>>129280324
>I have no choice but to do the small ones and hope it will lead me to the bigger ones eventually.
That's right. Just strike them down where you see them. As long as you're honest with yourself you'll find the big ones. They're hard to acknowledge, not to find.

What?
>>
>>129230017
My problem is that i'm using /pol/ for self-help or reading comments on threads rather than actually doing these courses and avoiding this place in favor of truly tracking out my life.

Oh we'll say it's a good program because the man is a decent individual. But it all depends on how we can eliminate or compromise the "hooks" we have in our head. For example, I've been essentially a NEET 3 yrs now. I'll use this place and other forums for outlets. Then I'll justify in my head the advice I get here and from those outlets is actually improving some tiny bit of performance on a specific thing such as knowledge of politics or media lies. While these things may be true, they too serve as distractions. I will always want to be distracted by a self-help guide rather than actually perform self-help.

This is a major dragon i've created when attempting to slay multiple other dragons.

>>
>>129281391
One other issue that Jordan hasn't really addressed but it's not really his fault given he has a specific mindset on these things. It's that, even on /pol/, we are working against tiny "machines", bots, or information aggregates that hone in on human behavior - making the waters around the pot hotter while the frog doesn't notice.

these systems, more than ever, get us trapped in repetitive loops, echochambers, self-affirmation, NEETdom, information overload, clickbait articles that entice us, etc. i don't know how to defeat this dragon while simultaneously NEEDING the internet or some computational device to perform most job activities or gain more information on self-improvement.

It's a dual-sword.

This. I'm old as fuck (54) and have been a militant atheist all my life, that is, until I found JP here on /pol and started watching his videos. Watched 2017 Maps of Meaning (all of them) and it made perfect sense to me.
Now I could not honestly call myself an atheist anymore because I know that god exists. The only thing I would disagree with various Christians about is what "god" actually is, because my view is more inline with the way JP explains it, and almost something approaching Brahmanism (worth a quick study for anyone not finding Abrahamism totally satisfying).
Not gonna lie, JP has changed my life. Maybe in a minor way, but changed nonetheless. If only I had had access to this material 35 years ago, mine would have been a totally different (and much better) life. You young guys should take this shit seriously and sort yourselves out while there is still time. Make the sacrifice (of about 30 hours of your time) and the reward will be many times greater.

As Orwell said, the first duty of intelligent men is the restatement of the obvious. I'm just glad he's bringing to the fore some of the stuff we've been talking about for years, most notably the fact male bell curves are flatter than females. Also the stuff about sjwism being an outcropping of female egalitarianism in raising kids.

Ernest Becker wrote Denial of Death, but I see what you are getting at. Campbell flirted with nihilism more so than JBP, and believed that life was ultimately about survival and reproduction for the sake of it, but Campbell found life-affirming "meaning" in his life by reading the countless hero stories and myths and living by what these stories taught.

If you are really in depression you should go to a doctor. Peterson will help you find a meaning, and that can help the process.
>why even try to force myself and fail
I have this problem. It was a lot worse before. What changed it for me was the Scott Adams (Dilbert man) approach. Basically, instead of setting goals and getting frustrated when failing, think of it as a system. Everyday you will do something that will make you better in the long run. The point is not to succeed, but to get better. Everytime you get better you improve your odds in the future. So if you do it, you did it. If you didn't do it, you still learned and will be better next time.
It sounds really stupid and obvious because it is, but this change of perspective helps a lot if failure gets you anxious.
His explanation is way better than mine, and his book has some other good unorthodoxical but obvious insights. I recommend checking it out for some real life tips while Peterson tackles the big stuff. It's a very easy read, so take a quick look and see if you think it can be valuabe. If it has, keep going.

Stalin had five year plans too. In all seriousness, I always thought in the back of my mind Peterson doesn't ever like to admit there are talented people who can't find good jobs. I now realize why - he's a corporate consultant who helps hr departments "choose better employees". So, if you're looking to blame someone for why you no one wants to hire you if you've been out of work for over six months and are the wrong side of 30, here's your man.

In full disclosure, I haven't watched the video you posted but I did clean my house today. I actually clean it every Friday but that's besides the point. A lot of what I've heard from Peterson is just repackaged self help and goal setting. Everyone should find a self help author or speaker they like and occasionally revisit their books or speeches when they feel misguided. This is not to replace one's spirituality but to help them find purpose in the midst of the mundane. Peterson may speak to you, John Maxwell is who I prefer, some like Stephen Covey, other like Tony Robbins or Zig Ziggler. All of them are good in their own rite and depends on the consumer's personality as to whether the speaker's material is of value.

I will compliment Peterson on one concept others have not grasped, the motivation of fear. Fear of failure has been my biggest motivator my entire life. I've used it to accomplish things I never thought possible. Just by listening to Peterson mention he uses this to help motivate people, it reminded me that I could use fear to accomplish tasks I would normally procrastinate.

Jordan gives out codes occasionally. Just pay the $30 for all 3, it'll probably be worth it. Or, look at the preview I posted in this thread for a fore-taste.
>>
Personally, I think Peterson's biggest contribution hasn't been the future authoring program itself, but rather the statistics related to its results and the speculators elements for why it's returning those results. It's easy to say "people need goals", it's almost a truism at this point, but it's another thing to establish which demographics are most at risk of failure due to a lack of goals and why they don't have goals.
>>
>>129287846
He can't be serious - I'll have to check his tweets now to see whether he lets on. His followers will have told him anyway, if he somehow didn't know.
>>
>>129305669
You should watch his videos, he goes way deeper than a self help guy. He's a student of Carl Jung if you know who he was. Very deep shit
>>
>>129288823
That's what I took from his myths stuff too (read a couple books) - those myths keep you company, they comfort you, make you feel you're not alone. It's too bad he couldn't have lived to see JBP, he would have loved what he came up with.
>>
>>129293905
Yeah well if you don't take seriously the idea that it could come out badly and they have to abort it, or worse, raise it, then they /shouldn't/ take you seriously. 40s is pretty much too late, or else very risky.
>>
>>129306528
I think Peterson needs to elaborate more on hell.

When he discusses his dissatisfaction with the terror management theory, stating that it's illogical that religion would conceive of hell or any other flavour of underworld if religion was an adaptive tool to prevent death anxiety, Peterson supposes that rather hell was a way of expressing society's understanding that there are most definitely things worse than death and the actions that can bring about those circumstances.

An alternative common critique of Christianity however is that heaven and hell are the incentivizing forces that gave Christianity its political power, which I don't think he does enough to address.
>>
>>129307070
On his Bible series, I keep thinking he's reading his own meaning into the stories. Fair bunkum, but I just doubt the ancient Jew authors had that much depth to them. I mean, beyond resonating psychologically somehow. Finding a 'deep' interpretation of the trinity though, that's dumb if he thinks he's finding what's already there. The Trinity was a hodge podge way to cope with everything said about the various forms of God.
>>
>>129307070
> heaven and hell are the incentivizing forces that gave Christianity its political power, which I don't think he does enough to address.

Yeah. He's using the audience to follow his own new JBP-style train of thought, he's not really just explaining the passages. That's already been done by others just fine of course.

The Trinity is a stretch, but I don't think it's fair to reduce all of his meta analysis down to simply just-so storytelling. I think what's more important that he should be doing is corraborating common iconography across multiple faiths and then observe whether or not there's a biological or anthropological attribute that conforms to that iconography and the stories. So far his over-arching hypothesis has been that behaviours and even morality predate the myths themselves, and therefore the myths aren't arbitrary societal creations that decide a culture's morals rather the myths are attempts to codify the already in place morals by people who hadn't yet developed empirical research to explain the world. That the mythological aspects of the religion not being true didn't necessarily have to mean everything about the faiths themselves were arbitrary and that we've thrown the baby out with the bath water.
>>129308968
If I remember correctly in one of the interviews, I think it was JR but it might have been Harris, Peterson is discussing his annoyance with casual critique of religion and says something akin to "You can say religion was just a way of controlling the masses by way of superstition, and you'd technically be correct, but it's also fifty other things and it's foolish to dismiss it on those grounds".

I'd still like to see him asked about it though.
>>

> In all seriousness, I always thought in the back of my mind Peterson doesn't ever like to admit there are talented people who can't find good jobs.

>listening to his talk about attempting to monetize his conscientiousness testing module earlier in his career
>it was actually a known phenomenon that how accurate and helpful your test is is inversely proportional to how much people are willing to use it as a form of testing

His conscientiousness lecture was neat and I legitimately hope he has success figuring out something about industriousness specifically.

I always thought that a good lab test for conscientiousness would involve procrastination, maybe I'll send him some questions asking what his lab has tried and failed with so far for conscientiousness testing.

I've been in this guys shoes. I'm also 34. I was let go from a job recently where I did the shittiest job I've ever done. I knew every day I was going to fuck off and not give a shit because I hated the place and my coworkers. I was relieved to be let go because I knew I'd get some severance pay. I developed extreme anxiety at this place because I hated the politics of the job and the catty female nature of the men I worked with.

Part of what anon needs to do is to take time to figure out what he wants his mark on the world to look like. What does he need to do in order to not look back on his life from his deathbed and say it wasn't worth it. Then just work to that end.

If you want to be competent in life, first you need to be competent in your own space.
Competence is built outwards.
First clean up your room regularly, then fix your diet, then start working out, then work a lot, then help local community, save the white race yadda yadda.

It's all in small steps, cleaning your room is a good start.
