I get the feeling Comey was too intent on staying "independent" when it's been show the FBI is in the Deep State's toolbox. Trump may have observed this as Comey telling him he wasn’t going to listen to Sessions. This makes sense if you remember Comey backing off the Clinton email servers investigation and L. Lynch meeting with WJC on the private jet.
Trump was right to ask him to resign if Comey wasn’t going to stop being "independent" and just gloss over crimes of power politicians on both sides of the isle.
