Private gun ownership saves a shit ton of lives per day, per year in the United States. Google FBI stats and the independent university study done that had proven already that 2.4-2.5 million lives are saved every year in justified manner in the US because of private gun ownership.

Gun ownership also curbs violence (and has been since the 70's), despite the 32k a year statistic (which more than 2/3 of that is suicide and a small number considering how fucking huge our country- the 50 states are.)

The government here would stalemate if ever confronted with homegrown armed citizens in mass since the military itself takes up an oath to defend the constitution and it's own people while majority of the military branches are very pro second amendment themselves.
