A degree is valuable not because of what your learn but because it gives you a job because it tells that you're smarter than those who don't have a degree. Same for grades. Grade inflation is punitive for the students who work hard because they can't enjoy the full benefits of their hard work.

I think that we should not only force schools to publish average class grades next to individual grades, but also to force professors to grade on a curve and set the average to the same number everywhere.
